Well, I'm very pleased even just to have stimulated your knowledge (thanks, Mike). Let me start by saying that I'm not a linguist. The situation you described isn't actually very common and occurs when, for metrical reasons, a vowel gets stuck between two syllables or between a syllable and a final vowel, as in the case cited. This causes three distinct phonemes to fall under the same note. In poetry, this gives a particular rhythm to the line. In a sung text, however, the sign we're discussing lends breadth and clarity to the music in that particular passage. Thanks again for your interest.

I'm taking advantage of the graphic symbol Richard suggested to submit a song in which this symbol is used recurringly. Good morning,
While I wait for some computer scientist on the forum to share their ingenuity in creating the "synalefe" object, I'm updating my tests. The best results are obtained with the text ("x" ---> "horizontal round bracket" pointing upwards). I use the Staff Italic font - Times New Roman, Bold Italic (12.5) and set the percentage to the best (80% or 90%). The font is several screens down, but once you find it and insert it in the first place, you can copy and paste it, as I mentioned. I also discovered that to further separate the two syllables, just add a second underscore to the text. Excellent!
You might be wondering why I'm spending so much time on this aspect, which is purely graphical.
In the Italian language, almost all words end with a vowel, and so sometimes, for metrical reasons, in a sung text, the last syllable of the first word and the first syllable of the second are joined. This union is indicated by the "synalephe" sign.
Some examples from the poem:
Ce-le-e-ste_A-i-da...
Di Pro-ven-za_il mar, il suol...
Quan-do men vo, quan-do men vo so-let-ta per la via,
la gen-te so-sta_e mi-ra...

And now, as a pastor said at the end of a three-quarters of an hour sermon, I'll finish so as not to tire you.  :D

The solution proposed by Richard is the most practical. You need to find among the various formats (fonts) one in which the "horizontal bracket" character has a curvature that's neither too pronounced nor too open. Then, once the first one is inserted... copy/paste and you're done. The technical solution (object), if implemented, would be automatic, so it's preferable. Thanks.

Good evening,
When writing text, sometimes two syllables that end and begin with a vowel, appear under the same note. To "join" these syllables, NWC uses empty space. Other programs insert the "synalephe" symbol. I tried inserting this text symbol "‿" with encouraging results. The greatest difficulty is the correct positioning, that is, perfectly between the two syllables. Do you have any suggestions for performing this operation correctly and quickly?

Done! Easier than I thought. I thought it involved stems and noteheads, which needed tweaking. These acciaccaturas are repeated throughout many of the 138 measures. I was a little skeptical about the transcription. Thanks!

I've encountered this acciaccatura that I can't write as per the sheet music, which I've attached.
The two small eighth notes with the cut on the stem don't overlap perfectly at the junction of the two staves, baritone and bass.
Do you have any suggestions?

After much observation of Harlad Müller's nwctxt, whom I thank again, I figured out the trick of the notes in parentheses and the eighth-note rests on quarter notes. I had changed the time signature to 7/8 by muting the extra note, but it didn't work.
So far, okay.
Now I just have to discover the entire architecture of the choruses 1.4, 2.3, etc.

Thank you so much, my friend Harald! Your message catches me while I've been (super)busy for several hours transcribing this "very complicated score." Yours, which I'll study carefully, shows the hand of a professional! I'm not even familiar with some of the solutions you proposed. In the measures with the eighth note in parentheses, which increases the tempo by 1/8, I had initially considered changing the tempo for that measure to 7/8, but then the "rhythm" of the singing (which I've heard many times on YouTube from different choirs) was altered in an unfeasible way. I'll study your solution for this too. Now I want to finish my work. I've decided to transcribe the ENTIRE score from beginning to end as if there were no refrains. In practice, I've gone from 20 measures to 48! It's too complicated and difficult for me to work on the refrains. Then I'll work on the graphic aspect. Thanks.

Good morning to you, wherever you are!
I wanted to bring the attached score to your attention. I'd like to transcribe it exactly as it appears. All the verses are sung by the Bars and the Basses, but the 1st and 4th start from the beginning, the 2nd and 3rd from the B section. Furthermore, from the D section, the 2nd and 3rd voices are T I and T II. Not to mention the Coda with accompanying markings.
I'm wondering if it's possible to transcribe and perform it as I present it. The most complicated issue for me with transcription is the numbering of the verses, but for performance, who knows...?

In a personal conversation, Flurmy had already suggested this excellent solution, which I've already tried successfully. I used Notepad: write the text and then copy/paste it into PageTxt --> Text. The problem with the "line break" (or next line) still needs to be solved without resorting to the infamous %br%. But it's not a big problem.

Good morning, I'm transcribing many old folk songs from my region. The lyrics are often in dialect, with terms that are now obsolete. I use Page Text (with Page Text Maestro). I'm wondering if it's possible to increase the size of the "Text" window, and therefore the text as well, as in the "lyric" text entry window.

Quick question about testing with Page.text.
How can I insert text only on the last page when there are more than two pages, starting from page 3 onward? "Once" puts it on the first page, "even" and "odd" in odd and even, always twice. I don't understand "no mirroring," but it doesn't work for me.

The second question, posed in other words: at the end of a page (at the bottom of the page) is the last line of the score ("section close bar"). Can I add a subsequent page that's completely blank, that is, without any lines?

Good morning,
this is the problem I'm proposing.
Is it possible to split text inserted with Page.Txt into two parts after the last line? "Split" means one part on the left and one on the right. In the attached example, the second part of the text, the one on the right, was created with Xtext.hmm. The two parts were paired as precisely as possible after many attempts.
My transcriptions always include text, and I transfer it to the nwc file. When the text is very long, as in the example, I have great difficulty inserting it so it's displayed.
At this point, another subsequent question: Is it possible to create a blank page (without a staff) after the last line?

I had read the instructions for your tremolo, but stopped at the indication of the "half of the note" rest. I understood and corrected it. But now another problem arises. In the upper line of the score there is a whole note (4/4), while in the lower line, the one with the tremolo, NWC correctly reads 5/4. I solved it with a quarter rest, not visible, in the upper line. Graphically it is fine, but from a musical point of view no. Is there any other solution that is completely correct?

I need your help.
In the attachment there are two measures of a piano accompaniment. The previous measures are in 4/4, as you can see from the first measure. In the second measure, the lower staff keeps 4/4, while the upper one becomes 11/8 (???).
How can I make a correct insertion in the upper staff of the second measure?
Do the two signs I highlighted in yellow say something more about the strange change in time?
