General Discussion / Re: Start-Cancel/Forbid collapsible section
Good day to you,
here is the raw version of my "Deep River" (transcription by R. Dionisi for male choir). I started from scratch, inserting as many staves as there are various parts that split, come back together, etc., scrupulously following Lawrie's precious indications. I discovered - but it was probably a discovery just for me - that the overview of ALL the staves allows to give a complete and correct picture of the transcription. I only selected some parts, the ones that interested me at the moment, and the staves remained empty! When I entered all the notes and selected ALL the staves, I got what I was looking for. My problems - no problem, really, just indifference ... - with the English language cause these troubles. I thank you for your patience and Lawrie in particular!
Of course, any comments, advice or reproaches are welcome!
Lorenzo

PS1: in bar 9, voice of ten. II, there is a semibreve alone, I should have inserted another staff just for her. I haven't entered it. Tips?
PS2: I have not yet managed to connect the various staves with the grand staff brace, I will study them.

General Discussion / Re: Start-Cancel/Forbid collapsible section
Hi Lawrie, your result is just what I was looking for and I have not been able to achieve! Optimal! I have to study your code and the consequent nwc file thoroughly and get a clear and definitive idea of the use of collapsables. The original score that I attached to my first speech lends itself perfectly to this purpose  >:( .
Thank you very much and have a nice day.
Lorenzo

General Discussion / Re: Start-Cancel/Forbid collapsible section
It is true, a completely inappropriate example.
I corrected, adding the baritone and bass parts (they are not exactly like the original score, but it doesn't matter at the moment, as long as they cover all measures): there are still the empty bars 13-17 of the falsetto tenors I and II ! Where is my mistake?  :'(  :'(  :'(
Thanks Maurizio, good night!
Lorenzo

General Discussion / Start-Cancel/Forbid collapsible section
Greetings to you!
For a few days now I've been breaking my head with a complicated score. I am attaching it to you: I have highlighted the part I am trying to transcribe (I am already in the fourth edition of my work, the first three ended up in the trash ...). Therefore, the staff "falsetti tenors I and II occupies the first five bars, then disappears to reappear in the last three (18-20). From bars 6 to 17 it should not appear. I tried and tried to work on the Boundary (Start a collapsible section and Cancel / forbid collapse from this bar), nothing, the damn bars from 6 to 17 do not disappear. Where am I wrong? In one of the previous "editions" I was able to hit the target in the baritone / bass parts, also present in "united" form (bars 1-12 and 18-20) and in "detached" form (13-17), I think in a purely casual way, even if after many attempts.
In short and not to tire you, I enclose my attempted work for the falsetti tenors I and II.
Good evening and good Sunday.
Lorenzo

General Discussion / Re: staff of "falsetti"
Thank you. I'm rehearsing. Up to now I have managed to obtain what I am attaching (the whole passage).
It must be said that at bar 19 there is an interruption of the staves which further complicates the situation.
Buona giornata.

General Discussion / staff of "falsetti"
Good evening to you. Here I am with my questions of a mainly graphic type. When in a score - in mine it happens not too often but it happens - a "falsetti" staff appears in the last measures,
How is it possible:
1. do not show all the previous measures (of the "falsetti" staff)
2. give the staff a smaller dimension than the others
I'm rehearsing with the piece of which I am attaching the "offending" part.
Thank you.

General Discussion / Re: Minimum intervals with dotted notes
Thanks HMM, your solution is certainly better, and does not resort to artifice. I don't remember noticing the option you gave me.
Before sleep I will try to change the height of the dots.
Have a good evening.

General Discussion / Re: Minimum intervals with dotted notes
Thanks David, I sensed something like this.
By tweaking I have solved as it appears in the attachment. I have to attach the whole file, red notes to measures 14, 18 and 22.
For me, a former chorister, the correct execution of the part (voice), with its points, is also important.
True, with a little patience - and a lot of free time - NWC lets you do a lot of unscheduled trespasses.
Hello.

General Discussion / Minimum intervals with dotted notes
Good morning to you.
Sometimes in my transcriptions it happens to me that notes appear dotted on a minimum interval (eg. second) between two distinct voices. The problem arises of positioning the point correctly, considering both the appearance (the graphics) and the sound (the single voice).
Do you have any other suggestions?
Thanks, happy Sunday.

General Discussion / Re: About nwctxt
I'm sorry, but I didn't understand much.
Which text should I select? If I save an nwc file in txt format, the classic nwc file icon appears. If I open it, I see it in the NWC program!
Excuse my pumpkin hardness ...
Thank you!

General Discussion / Re: Ties Obscuring Notes
I propose this beautiful question for the magister HMM.
In the attached score, Ah! sung by the second tenors with notes held up to four measures.
The tie on the first Ah! (F) does not give problems.
These begin on the second Ah! (F / A chord) because the slurs interfere with the first notes of the “pa-ra-pa-ra-pa”.
Same goes for the next agreement (F / A / C)
On the fourth Ah! (F / A / C / E) no problem, not carrying tie.
Another drawback is given by the lyrics with melisma of the various Ah !, placed at different heights.
I thought of solving it like this.
For the first three Ah! I added a staff. On this I copied the "mother" score, then F, F / A, F / A / C, and here I worked with Mike's slur cubic, adjusting the height and width of the arc. These notes I have made mute. Each mother score has been made invisible but not mute: therefore the slurs behave correctly (sound kept) but are not seen.
However, the problem of text with melisma arises: this last user object is not displayed by the slur cubic, I think. So I brought the text of the "mother" scores (which can be heard but not seen), ie the various "Ah!" on the "false" staves (which can be seen but not heard), at various heights as per the score.
I still can't enter this work of mine which is still very crude!
Have a nice Sunday.

PS:I hope the Google traductor works clearly!

General Discussion / About nwctxt
How do you open an nwctxt file in the form that appears in the forum? That is in code form, see attachment. I am only able to open the file with notepad, which is another matter entirely.
Thank you.

Thanks Lawrie! For time zone reasons you  :)  are always the first to answer but you are always very kind and helpful. I solved it by following your instructions.

General Discussion / BarCounter numbers size
Good morning to you,
in an nwc file - and only in this one - the numbers of the BarCounter (user) are large. Wonder where you can change the size of this attribute. The same problem also occurs in the top bar.
Thank you.

General Discussion / Re: reinstalling NWC
You have been very kind. I have already found the folder with the various installation files. As Mike said, I'll run them one after the other in chronological order. I'll ask the vendor about the Windows migration that Lawrie is talking about.
Thanks again and good evening / night / morning.
Lorenzo

PS: I was advised not to install Windows 11 :(

General Discussion / Re: reinstalling NWC
Good morning to you. I am about to change the computer and refer back to this thread to ask how I can reinstall NWC. I have the original CD of the first installation (2002) and the documents of the following updates. Over time I have made the payments that are mentioned by Mike. I have already written to the assistance, I hope they answer with clear information. NWC can't be missing from my PC!
Thanks for your attention.

General Discussion / Re: Arrow between two staves
Good morning to you. I studied markup.rg, within the limits of my computer skills, which are immense. I ask what character is the last of the series: it would seem a high point, but in the ASCII characters I have not found it. This is what the arrowhead shows in this case.
Thank you.

For now I am satisfied with this. Between almost absolute ignorance of the English language and absolute ignorance of the computer language, for the moment I am more than satisfied.
Thank you.
Good day.

General Discussion / Arrow between two staves
Hello everyone.
I should insert an oblique arrow between the stem of one note and the head of another note located on a staff below. Is there a way to carry out this intervention, perhaps with a pleasant result also from a graphic point of view? In the attached image the red arrow would be a great goal. The black arrow is a Yu Gothic UI text font, 330%, but unfortunately it is not orientable.
Thanks.
Good evening.

General Discussion / Re: slur and chords
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the "tie" function. It cannot be moved and sometimes it overlaps with slur or other ties.
Tips.
Good day to you.

General Discussion / Re: slur and chords
Maybe it has already been written in the forum.
I discovered that by adjusting the ends of the slur with the markers (AltGr + @)), if you make the first marker invisible, the slur also no longer appears visible. So you can insert slur.ms or slurCubic.ms for an optimal and personal rendering from the graphic point of view, without compromising the musical line.
A good evening to you.

General Discussion / Re: quarter note's rest out side of the staff
Hello, I refer to this topic with two specific questions.
1. the numerical values of slur.ms, slurCubic.ms, alt ctrl + @,  how are they chosen? In other words, 0 (zero) corresponds to the position of the notehead, to the center line of the staff (in which each space is equal to 1?)...
2. Is it possible to set the direction of slur (the "official" one, ctrl +;) before inserting it? Let me explain: when the stem of the note is up, the direction of the slur is down and vice versa. Each time it is necessary to enter the properties of the note and reverse the direction of the slur. I hope I have explained.
Thanks to you, I wish you a day.

Thanks Lawrie, that's what I did trying again after submitting my request. Excellent result, considering that the slurs can be modified making them very beautiful from a graphic point of view.
Have a good week.

General Discussion / New PC
Hello, I'm going to change the PC. NWC is certainly one of the programs that I will reinstall on the new machine.
I ask:
Does NWC also work well with Windows 11?
Is the activation code always valid for a subsequent installation (obviously after uninstalling the one on the old PC)?
Do I need detailed and clear instructions?
Thank you.

General Discussion / Re: Insertions resize
Thanks HM. So in reality the sound is modified by the inserts while on the score you see the text, which cannot modify the sound. Good day. Lorenzo

General Discussion / Insertions resize
It is possible to resize the characters of the insertions of dynamics, performance styles, tempo variance etc.?
If they are entered as text, which can be easily resized, does it affect the playback?
Thank you and have a nice day (it's raining here!).

I find it useful to try all these 117* commands once in a trial score - not only for beginners, but also advanced users: There's always something I have forgotten, or some concept I haven't used for a long time.
You're absolutely right, thanks for the advice.

Thanks Maurizio, I'll try to follow your protocol. I immediately had an uncertainty: in my MPC window the values of the "Expression" controller range from 0 to 127, as for "Volume".

General Discussion / MPC
Dear friends, I am transcribing a male choral song that includes solo parts (bass, second tenor, baritone and first tenor in order). When the soloist sings, the other voices decrease in volume. I am trying to learn the use of the MPC but I cannot get a good result. The MPC window, opened and reopened several times, does not allow itself to be tamed. Do you have any advice? Thank you and good evening. Lorenzo

General Discussion / NWC code
I very often see snippets of nwc files published in the form of code (text).
Would you be kind enough to explain to me how to do it?
Please use plain language for my ignorance of the English language and for my ignorance and that's it.
Thank you and good day.

General Discussion / Re: Tie position
With this observation I close my interventions on the subject. Actually the sound with the user "slur.ms" is not linked (the notes are joined only graphically). I thought I read here in the forum that there is the possibility to work graphically on the slur with "slur.ms", keeping the tied but making it invisible. So, in the drawing, slur, in the sound tie.
Can anyone confirm this?
Thanks. Have a good evening.
Lorenzo

General Discussion / Re: Tie position
Thanks Richard. My request was another, that is to raise the tie both at the beginning and at the end to prevent the curve from touching the note of the lower voice. I solved it, at least graphically, by inserting a User "Slur.ms" and raising the Y offsets by half a point. See attachment. I didn't check if even using slur.ms and not the more correct tie, the sound is maintained.
If this works, the User "Slur.ms" is also great for tied!

Hello, I ask if it is possible to move the tie up or down when it covers notes of other voices. I enclose example. Thanks.

Hi everyone. Working on PageTxt.nw I found that you can space lines using two "% br%", separated by a space. Maybe you already knew, but I would like confirmation. I enclose example of my song.
Have a good evening.

General Discussion / Re: Insert text
As is right, I am attaching the result of my work. Since the chorus cannot be separated from the lines vertically, I created a small indent, lengthening the blank after the second "%". On the other hand, I do not understand HMüller's latest remarks.

General Discussion / Re: Insert text
As always, you are very kind and thorough in your answers. I will try the indicated methods and then I will choose the most valid for my works. They are mostly four-voice manly songs ("mountain choirs", tenors I and II, baritones and basses) with lyrics made up of verses and refrains. I prefer to insert the first line as the line count and then report all the text separately. My difficulties also arise from my almost no knowledge of the English language. So thank you again for your patience. Lorenzo

General Discussion / Re: Insert text
Thanks Lawrie. The verses are inserted as "text" (x). I distance the lines from each other by a number of spaces (from 6 to 8) and the verse from the refrain by a larger space (I always use 10). These numbers are derived from the "position" that appears in the text window. What I'm wondering is why I can't go beyond position 100 if the page is practically blank. I attach the nwc file.
