Object Plugins / Re: User object for lyric-dependent ties?
To begin with: I completely overlooked those functions. Thank you for having put them in evidence.
But I doubt those functions can be of any help.
SeenFirstEnding simply memorizes if NWC met an Ending after a MasterRepeatOpen while Ending1Context, as the name suggest, contains the play context at the moment NWC met the Ending 1.

General Discussion / Re: Eighth Special Ending
I don't know if this can be of help for you, but you can fake the master repeats.

General Discussion / Re: Trave in beamed group
Why? Because it is coded so. It's one of the limitations of NWC.
And, yes, you need to use the layering.

(È uno dei limiti di NWC. Per farlo si deve usare il layering.)

General Discussion / Re: Quantisation
Sûrement, si le quantification a été excessive, la chose n'est pas possible.
Dans l'autre cas il pourrait être faisable, mais par un programme extérieur (user tool) qui, je crois, au moment n'a jamais été créé.

For sure, if the quantization has been too strong, there's no way.
In the other case it could be possible, but with an external tool  (user tool) that, I think, so far has never been made.

General Discussion / Re: Missing icons
Yes, right that.
And the problem is present only on my computer with XP.
That's odd. I didn't change anything... or so I think.
Even emptying the cache the problem doesn't go away.
I must investigate...

Thanks, Lawrie.

General Discussion / Missing icons
In the main page of the forum, the icons on the left now are replaced by a "fi".
What's happened?

General Discussion / Re: Tremolo with octaves
PS 2: I exclude errors in the score
Sorry, Lorenzo, but I disagree.
The correct way to notate that is (as Mike said) as follows:
Code: (nwc) [Select · Download]
!NoteWorthyComposerClip(2.751,Single)
|Chord|Dur:8th|Pos:-9,-2|Opts:Stem=Up,Beam=First
|Spacer|Width:125

|RestChord|Dur:8th|Opts:Stem=Down,ArticulationsOnStem,Muted|Dur2:4th|Pos2:-9|Color:1
|Spacer|Width:200
|User|Tremolo.ms|Pos:-2
|RestChord|Dur:8th|Opts:Stem=Down,ArticulationsOnStem,Muted|Dur2:4th|Pos2:-2|Color:1

General Discussion / Re: Tremolo with octaves
A two-note tremolo that has 8th notes for each note would have a total duration of 1/8 note in the measure, and with two additional beams, it would play as 32nd notes. Adding up the other beats, there would be a total of 7 beats in the measure.
Perhaps it is a typo in the score, and it was meant to be quarter note tremolos? In that case it would add up to 4 beats.
I agree.

Object Plugins / Re: Glissando.ms (2.8)
There is also another addition to the plugin: if the first note is a grace note, the sweep duration is assumed 1/32 and is stolen from the target note (as is customary in NWC). See the attached example.
This happens often in jazz and kletzmer music.  :)

General Discussion / Re: What is 2 Ped.
What an ass!  :-[
The MIDI standard has a specific switch controller for the "una corda" pedal, exactly like the sustain pedal.
It is called "soft" and NWC can control it via MIDIcontroller.fl, a plugin by yours truly.  :o
When I say my memory is bad...  :(

General Discussion / Re: What is 2 Ped.
However, patch 64 is supposed to be Soprano Sax, which doesn't really seem consistent with a muted violin to me...
Argggh. The usual conundrum.
Is the first patch patch 0 or patch 1?
If zero-based (computer style) then 64 is SynthBrass 2, else (human style) it's Soprano Sax.
(Please note that NWC sometimes uses the former, sometimes the latter. Aaaaarg!)
Anyway, in both cases, as Lawrie said, it doesn't really seem consistent with a muted violin!

General Discussion / Re: What is 2 Ped.
I am transcribing a work by a French composer and the bass staff of the piano starts with 2 Ped. Besides Pedal Down, and Pedal Release, what else needs to be done?
The second pedal is the "una corda" and the thing is not part of the General Midi patches.
The most that can be done is to let the piano play softer.

Also, what is a good midi channel for a muted violin?
Midi channel? Any, except 10!
Here you mean Midi patch.

64 is the only one that sounds close.
SynthBrass for a muted violin? Unexpected.
Be aware that things can sound quite differently with a different soundfont (or midi instrument).

Object Plugins / ChordPlay.fl
I made other additions and bug fixes to ChordPlay.nw beside the old ones from me, Mike and Lawrie.
I was able to maintain backward compatibility with the original plugin but, of course, I can not update it, so, after discussing the topic with Mike and having requested the opinion of Eric without success, I decided to publish it with a different (mine) ID.

In a nutshell, these are the changes:
  • Backward compatible with ChordPlay.nw
  • Extended the allowed chord list
  • Allowed commonly used SwingChord etc. glyphs (courtesy of Lawrie)
  • Allowed the use of the solfeggio style note/chord
  • Allowed also the 'N.C.' "chord"
  • Automatically converted also the solfeggio style note/chord
  • Added the option to avoid the use of unicode chars U=266F and U=266D
  • Considered staff transposition when playing chords (courtesy of Mike)
  • Corrected a bug that crashed the plugin if MusikChordSerif is not available
  • Corrected a bug in doFontChange for the font size
  • Corrected a bug in the internal user tool (courtesy of Lawrie)
  • Corrected a bug in the parsing of the part after '/'

General Discussion / Re: Finale’s finale
Don't forget a detail: NWC is virtually dead.  :(  Probably is for that that NWC was not mentioned.
Luckily, as the old school programs, the licence of NWC doesn't expire.  :)
Now, more often than not, to use a program you must have an active "infernet"  ;)  connection and you have to keep paying just to continue using it as-is. This made me discarding lots and lots of programs.

General Discussion / I play the blues, oh yeah! :-)
I'm notating a score for cello and harp. The style is absolutely classical.
All of a sudden I met this passage with a strong blues feeling.
I triple checked and I'm positive this is what the autor wanted! :o
Incredible.

User Tools / Re: NWCCONVERTOR
Never had any doubt, but it all depends on the OS theme.
I like the dark one...
41
User Tools / Re: NWCCONVERTOR
May I ask for a different color combination?
Or, better, the program adapting its colors to the OS theme?

P.S. thank you for the drag & drop!

Object Plugins / Re: About Object Plugins
I just discovered that, if you call a plugin with a name starting with "fake", the embedded user tool will execute, but its result will be discarded.
More specifically, it seems that in that case the save() metod does nothing.
Go figure...

General Discussion / Re: Tie (or slur?) without the tied note.
Aaaaarg! No, please!
Doing things like these remove the "note off" event and you finish having many stuck notes. Try using a different isntrument and you'll see... hear.
Do not mute the grace notes.
If you want to hear the "let ring" effect indicated by the ties use the pedal.

General Discussion / Re: Violin harmonics
Well, let's forget the theory of the "bow of Bach" that supposedly allowed to play all the 4 strings at once.
Actually the notes are not really played together but, as you can easily hear, with a sort of arpeggio.

The 5 note chord is only a graphical artifact. The true notes are "only" 4.

If I got it right, the artificial harmonics are notated with a standard note where you put your regular finger on and with a diamond where you put the "harmonic" finger on.
In the case of the chord of my example, G and D are open strings, the 1st finger is on the 1st position of tha A string (Bb), the second finger (2) is on the E string on the G position and the fourth finger (4) touches lightly the string on the C position so as to create the harmonic.
If I didn't miscalculate, the latter generates a G two octaves higher... but I'm asking for confimation!

General Discussion / Re: Deleting tempo
I agree with Lawrie, but did you consider "Tools -> Options -> Editor -> My expression anchor size"
and "(ditto) -> Object anchor size"?
