Hi Gust,
downloaded and installed, but no joy.  Please see attached .png file for error message.

I don't know if it makes a difference, but I installed it into my scripts folder, under the folder where NWC2.exe lives.  This being historically where all scripts were installed way back when... NB I have full permissions to this location.
When I created the new tool and put the full path in the "Command" field NWC decided to strip off everything except the relative parts of the path.  I.E. "Scripts\mixer_board-1.0.exe"

I plays 'Bones, crumpets, coronets, floosgals, youfonymums 'n tubies.

Hi Lawrie,
That error occurs when reading the instrument tree.
Can you send me the itree file you're using (see Tools/Options/Folders/Instrument Trees/Explore...,  and look for the file with the same name as in the title of the window that shows when you click 'Predefined Instruments' in the Staff Properties/Instruments)
Thanks

I am also getting a similar error as Lawrie.
Hi Michael,
When you go to Tools/Options/Folders, what do you see in the column 'Location' on the line 'Instrument Trees:'?
Thanks

Hi Lawrie,
Can you change the '-' into '=' in the following lines of your itree file and try it again:
Ped Posaune 16, Prinzipal 16+8, Oktave 4-50
Ped Montre 16, Prinzipal 8, Prestant 4, Oktave 2-67

Hi Gust,
done and same error...

I did a little experimenting and some of my older, and much simpler, itrees seem OK.

What kind of errors in the file should I be looking for?

FWIW I should probably simplify my itree anyway - many of the sections are no longer in use.

Instrument lines in a itree file consist of the name of the instrument and the patch number, separated by a "=" sign.
The program crashed on a line where the separator was a "-" instead of a "=".
I can eventually change the program to skip lines not containing a "=".

Hi Michael,

If you select that line and click 'Explore...':
  • Do you see any files with extension ".nwcitree?
  • What is the full path of that folder?

Significant parts of that itree include lines that have transpositions, some of which are negative.

Acoustic Guitar (nylon)=24,Trans(-12)

Could this be the problem?

I realise a itree is a bit more complicated than I thought :-[ . I now discovered the full explanation in the sample.nwcitree :) . I'm going to study that first.

Hi Gust,
just installed and tried the new version on a file I'm working on - seems to run fine, bu-ut - my changes weren't saved.
On clicking OK the program exited and I got the attached error.
I tried a simple, single staff file and it seemed to save fine.
Then I tried a different, more complex piece and got the missing clef error attached when running the program.  It never actually opened.  Interesting thing is there actually IS a clef on the staff, but it's not the first element.
Next I created a very simple test file using the piano template - just 2 bars on both staves.  With clef, key sig. and time sig. of course.  This also seemed to work fine although I did get a warning message saying the command was irreversible (I hadn't saved the file at all as it was a test).

On a different tack, there is a typo on the button at the bottom of each channel - the word "Predifined" should be "Predefined"

Would you like me to email you some files that failed?

I can, but there is little to see. Just stdout selected and "error" above "stdin".

Hi Opagust,

Thanks for getting this posted. I've had a chance to download the latest version (1.1) but haven't had much of a chance to test it out yet. I did get it to work, I think, sort of.

When I run the tool I initially get the Error message STDOUT but no text telling what the error is. Shortly after getting this message the mixer board does come up. All of the staves show up and I am able to change things like Volume, Instrument, Bank, MIDI Channel, etc., but none of the changes that I make are saved when I click on the OK button.

Just wondering with the STDOUT if there is an actual error or issue connect with not being able to save or if it's safe to ignore the message because the mixer comes up and if there is another way to save any changes I make?

Thanks.

I forgot to mention one thing in the install instructions: you have to check the box 'Long Task Handling'.
That will avoid the ERROR screen.

Hi Gust,
thanks for that - it fixed the problem I first encountered, but the other one is still to be resolved.

There will be 2 songs in your email shortly.

Hi Opagust,

While I will continue to test drive the tool, I am reporting that so far is seems to be working as advertised after checking the box 'Long Task Handling'. I was able to make a change in the mixer and have it saved to the file. I can see where this is going to be very handy and one of my "go to" tools that I will use frequently.

Thanks again for your work on this and speedy turnaround!

Hi Gust,
just discovered that anything that's on channel 10 or greater shows channel 10 in the interface.

More to the point, channels greater than 10 cannot be set in the interface.

When I muted a part on channel 12, even though it was showing channel 10 in the interface it successfully muted and remained on channel 10 12.
