General Discussion / Re: how to make it like this
Did you also notice I changed the separate 1st and 2nd endings into a combined 1.2 ending?
Thank you Lawrie, Yes I did, but after comparing with yours, coz when I tested it didn't stop there. Thank you. And also there are still some correction that I should make, including the notes, I have to compare with the music sheet, because, some time I just copied from one staff to another coz it looks the same, but , there are accidentals not needed in the next staff.
Thank you very much.

You had a couple of things not quite right - please compare the files to find them - if I just tell you it won't reinforce as well as if you find them yourself.
Thank you very much Lawrie, after I changed the 3rd times special ending and make the same for all staves, it works like yours.
I have several question to make it perfect as the music sheet and sung sounds like the quartet
1. How can we make it so that the upperline on 3rd times ending coverrring/capping the whole section like  the music sheet
2. On the start of the Baritone lyric actually it just hold singging, there is no addtional word "steal away". how can we make it like long line from the first "steal away" keep holding to match its full note.
3. On Fermata, the singers is longer than the fermata of the piano playing nwc file, how can we make it longer
4. How can I understand the logic of the flow, what is the difference of using Coda etc

Thank you

General Discussion / Re: how to make it like this
I'm pretty sure this will work, haven't had time to actually notate anything to test.
Thank you Lawrie for your help, but maybe something wrong with me, I already tried as per your instruction on the first staff, but still can not work like the flow of the Heralds Quartet on the youtube. Should I make the same for all the 4 staves? then test it? Or I attach my nwc file?

Thank you

General Discussion / Re: how to make it like this
Okay, there are two different issues here. 1) Using the special endings to create the correct appearance in the score. 2) Getting the score to play back correctly with those endings in place.
Ok Mike, I know someone among us maybe know for both issues. Hi Lawrie, maybe you cuould help me on how to direct the flow of the section to be sung, or any others that can help me on this?

Thank you

General Discussion / Re: how to make it like this
This section on the NWC website gives a short overview of special endings:
Hi Mike,
It seems the song sheet was written with another software long time ago, I do not see like flow direction, coda, etc.
First the song quartet that we will learn is this one:
https://youtu.be/yDKhannlj5w
And as the pdf song sheet is more than allowed size, I just put it on my google drive, we can click the following:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1QIy1Fg5jFUS-yFD28bM4JaOf1Fv9PJLx/view?usp=sharing
The following is the flow of the song, that I can not make it:
Point A. it seems the song started from Referrain/Chorus, after the end of the verse 1 and 2, always go back to point A
Point B. is special ending of the first time and the end the 1st verse (Point E)
Point C is the very ending, after the end of verse 2 Point G
The very final ending is on Point H

Thank you for your help

General Discussion / Re: single note on the songbook
You should be able to do what you want manually. See the attached file.
Yes, I am able to do it manually, just in case there is an automatic one in the user tools that can handle for some particural chord, coz if we follow the result when we put the lyrics it does not fit.
The reason that I split the song book staves is because I want to put the number note, coz in Indonesia, we prefer the number note to practice in our church choir when learning a song.

Thank you,

Frank

General Discussion / Re: single note on the songbook
I may have misread your question. Were those layered staves with both singing the 2nd half note?
Yes you misread my question. You know from the songbook made by NWC. I want to split the 1st couple staves by In 'Tools/User Tools.../.Starter Tools' you'll find the tool 'parts(adp)'. Before you use that you'll have to duplicate the staves in your file, so have 2 times 2 identical staves.

but I have problem with the one like on the picture while slurred and there is a singgle note to be used by 2 staves. My question is there anyway not to reedit it, but everything done by user tools?

Thank you,

General Discussion / Re: Part of the lyrics not shown on the Vabasco's Karaoke
Is there perhaps a different version that doesn't work?
Hi Francis, I attached here the copy of my revised file in order to show the first word by putting the whole rest in the beginning, but the problem in the refrain, is still presist that the soprano saying "when the roll" is not higlighting. I expect that as soprano saying "when the roll" is should be highlighting, thens when the tenor answer "when the roll " it should be highlihting too consistent with the notes of tenor and bass.

Do you have any idea how to make it shown on the karaoke text?
Thank you.

Frank, I think we'd need to see your NWC file to figure out why additional lyrics are not showing.
OK Francis, I will attach here the file. As to first word in the verse I know how to make it appear, just put the whole rest.
In the page setup I put show only soprano having in mind so that midi will not get confused when I expert it. I appareciate if you have any suggestion how to make all words that was sung by soprano will show up.
Thank you

Thank you Richard, I will try to learn it, by just adding the whole rest, yes will show the first word, but for the refrain one when there are some words in the refrain part that soprano says "when the roll".(not shown in the karaoke midi) ..and Tenor replied when the roll is shown....

Can your suggestion work for such a prolblem?.

Thank you

General Discussion / Re: Beaming with another note in the sopranostaff
However, the question I really have is:
How are you planning to use this song?
Do you intend to leave it as 4 separate staves, or will you layer the top 3 as previously stated?

Quote from: FrankSit – 5 days ago
I plan to use 4 separate staves, because this is for practice. And for the lyrics I tried to just combined by regroup the word to the note of Alto, Tenor and Bas as you can see on the file that I sent/attrached.

Thank you

General Discussion / Re: Beaming with another note in the sopranostaff
Also, as noted, the Alto and Tenor parts don't have the correct number of notes to allow for all the syllables to be correctly displayed separately.
My  question if the lyrics that I put for Alto and Tennor, even for Bass are correct. The rule that I make is if 2 notes become one, I combined the 2 syllables to one, but I used undersocore ("_") in between.

Thank you.

General Discussion / Re: Beaming with another note in the sopranostaff
As for the lyrics question I'm going to leave that as an exercise for the student.  I firmly believe you can sort the lyrics out.  There have been several similar lyric related solutions presented to you by others for different songs you've asked about that I'm sure you can apply the lessons learned from them with a little thought.
Hi Lawrie, What is the rule in reconstructing the lyrics to match with the note, because in the attached I tried my best, but I am not sure if it is correct. If anyone can give me the clue how to figure it out.

Thank you

General Discussion / Re: Beaming with another note in the sopranostaff
If you are using another language is the font still a standard Latin one, or are you using a different font that will need to be allowed for in the subtitle objects?
Lawrie, We are still using standard latin font. Indonesian language uses Standard latin font, same like English. Even our  dialect Batak also used standard latin. We do not use anymore our old graphic font. Thank you for your help

General Discussion / how to make short measure
Hello,

I learnt from this forum that in order to show  up export nwd into midi playing in vaBAsco Kareoke, we should insert a rest and tempo 750. I did it last time with the expected result. Now when I tried to do the same on another song, the measure is too long. How can I make it to be short like the successful one (see attached).

Thank you for anyhelp.

General Discussion / Re: Beaming with another note in the sopranostaff
As an observation, the lyrics are far easier to read and edit if you use the <Enter> key occasionally.  See the changes I made there too.
Thank you Lawrie, this is a good point/lesson for me in typing in the lyrics. On other thing about the text. When I put the additional text as 2nd line of the Title. When I moved it from the staff's top until near to the title, I can not see anymore when I want to edit. What is the way to edit that. Or maybe that's not the way we add subtitle? Actually I need to make translation title in other language. How can we use PageTextMaystro.nw.

Thanks

General Discussion / Re: Beaming with another note in the sopranostaff
I fixed the repeats - as mentioned earlier, you cannot use local repeats with special endings so I've changed them to master repeats.
Thank you Lawrie, I pay special attention to this.
I will continue tomorrow reading and learning what you have explained here. I need to walk now for excercise to slower my aging.  Oh..on one thing, how do you make there is like a counter howmanytimes people to download the file you attached.

Again thank you very much.

General Discussion / Re: Beaming with another note in the sopranostaff
Layering the first 3 staves is my assumption, but would I do it that way?
Yes Lawrie, I think that the way we would do. But the problem again in fitting the lyrics to show like in the song sheet, as you see in the attached, when I continued typing ,  the word wondrous did not go to verse 2 in the beginning, probably I  would just jump to lyric line verse 2?

Thank you

General Discussion / Re: Beaming with another note in the sopranostaff
Layering the first 3 staves is my assumption, but would I do it that way?
That would all depend.  If I needed to be able to distribute the 4 parts individually then yes, layering is the right solution, BUT if all I needed was the 2 staff result I would not bother with layering unless there were constructs that were impossible without layering.
Lawrie,
I attached here the one that I keyed in. Since the pdf of the song is more than allowed, so you can download the pdf from this link:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Jvyx7MAFevjtD8dk_jwV_DgvS9lZfCL8/view?usp=sharing
The Nwc file is here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gJA2wT_X77fyKw0lryAl4aGssH20dYbl/view?usp=sharing
The idea is we will be able to practice each voice/staff, coz  they will see the word and note highlighted when we play then they can follow. But like I said how can we fit the lyrics for all staves.

Thank you

Frank

General Discussion / Re: Beaming with another note in the sopranostaff
Wouldn't the first three staves be layered? Wouldn't that be the way you would do it to match the original, but with four parts?
Yes Lawrie, that is what I want to do, but again as usually I put also the lyrics of the alto, tenor and bass staves. I would face the problem, the wordings would  not fit. It will fit with the soprano only. Actually my friend asked me to do like what I usually do, but now I face difficulty.

Thank you,
Frank

General Discussion / Re: Beaming with another note in the sopranostaff
Is there a reason you want to use 4 staves instead of 2?
The reason is so that I can play the piano sound of each staff for each voice. That is the way we learn a song.
So for the alto staff that is I assume the notes in order to have 4 beats in the measure.
But when I layer all the 3 staves, I want to look it like in the book.
Then I think it over again, how can I make the lyrics fit with the Alto, and Tennor, even with Bass.

Any idea?

Thank you

General Discussion / Beaming with another note in the sopranostaff
Hello,

I was trying to keying the note from the song sheet. I see in the song sheet that from the alto staff is beaming to the sopranto staff for the sake of good look. How can we do it in the Noteworthy. See attached i put the one from the song sheet and the one from the one that I keyed in in the Noteworthy.
More over, here in the song sheet, soprano, alto and tenor use one type of keysignature, why they put it like that.

Anyway how can I send a pdf, so that anyone can see the whole song, because, I do not know how to match the wordings with the note of Bass, It could be not the same syllable

Thank you.

General Discussion / Re: The Draw Bar
HOWEVER, as you have used local repeats (with a 2 on the local repeat ending) then the flow would be:
1st time - play to the local repeat, then go back to the repeat start
2nd time - play to the local repeat and stop.
There won't be a 3rd time while there is a special ending after the local repeat.  If you remove the 3rd time special ending then after the 2nd time through it will continue on past the local repeat barline into bar 21.
Thank you very much Lawrie. You are right. I was wrong, in the start I put master repeat, while in the song sheet itself is Local repeat (not bold bar one of the 2 bars picture)
Please bear with me, since my job here for life is a housekeeper with the age not young anymore. When I came here in CA 7 years ago, I tried  to get a job like my profession in Indonesia, as an accountant, but didn't get it. So  I want to keep my brain working, therefre I still have many question on other topics.
Thank you

General Discussion / Re: The Draw Bar
Special endings have a mix of options.  For a first special ending that covers 2 or more bars:
Bar 1 - insert a special ending at the start of the bar that us marked as the "1st Ending" and has nothing else checked.
Bar 2 onwards - insert a special ending at the start of each bar and click the "Continue prior ending" button
Last bar of the special ending - insert a special ending at the start of the bar, click the "Continue prior ending" button AND then click the "Closed ending" checkbox.
Thank you Lawrie, I can make it look like the drawing line on the songsheet but I do not know the effect. I do not see like the Coda, it returns back to special section. Could you tell me what will be the effect in sound?

Also, I am not cleared on this:
See attached:
1. At the beginning measure 19, it says 1, 2 while in the song sheet 1 & 2
2. At the end of measure 20 it is closed, while at the next one  is is not closed, what does it mean.
3. At the top of the section closed bar there is number 2, what does it mean
Again what will be the effect of all the special Ending in sound when we play it

Thank you for your time

Frank
