Web site/server changes

We are in the process of migrating our online systems over to a new system. As a part of this process, we are moving NWC specific web resources over to the noteworthycomposer.com domain. During this process, you may experience occasional failures, unusual navigation results, and changes to the look and feel of some pages/areas.

It's horrible, Eric.  Bring back the old Coca-Cola!

Nice resurrection of an almost 8 year old topic.

We do now have smileys. Use with caution... ;)

Thanks. I thought it useful to review the reaction to the last major change to the forum.

How do I mark a topic or unread posts as read (without actually reading them)?
[EDIT]
Ah yes - Click on New Posts then Mark as Read (with age getting dumb and dumber).

I see we have a shiny new forum and a better one by the look of it ;)

code blocks

Syntax highlighting and downloads links for code blocks has been restored to the forum.

These are not the same mechanisms as existed in the old forum. In the old forum, everything was done on the server. The new code block handling is all done client side, in your browser. The process should be familiar to long time users.

Example:

Code: (nwc) [Select · Download]
!NoteWorthyComposerClip(2.75,Single)
|Instrument|Name:"Orchestra Hit"|Patch:55|Trans:0|DynVel:10,30,45,60,75,92,108,127|Pos:11|Wide:Y
|Chord|Dur:Half,Staccatissimo|Pos:-2,5
|Chord|Dur:Half,Staccatissimo|Pos:-6,1
!NoteWorthyComposerClip-End

download link does nothing but bump me to the top of the page :( I tried in IE11 and FireFox.
Not a big deal for me as I select, copy and paste (sometimes as new file)

Thanks for the reports. I am making some simple changes that will eventually work in Firefox 45. These changes might have happened during your tests, Richard. I'll keep looking into the issues involved.

Firefox now works, however it defaults to open with NotePad. That's OK, except that what is sent is terminated with a LF instead of CRLF. In NotePad, it is difficult to read.

So far, no one has mentioned the Edge browser in Windows 10, but I thought I would add that Download doesn't work for that one either.

Your browser does not support this mechanism

Firefox 42 does not support this mechanism. You need Firefox 45.

Not possible with XP, but no problem.
Like Rick, I select, copy and paste.  ;)

 Update on my tests.

Updated Mozilla/Firefox to v. 45.0.1
Attempted a select and download.

Mechanism works, however  default offered was nwc2view.exe (correct) with other choices available via the drop down.
Neither nwc2view.exe or nwc2.exe work correctly giving a message that indicates that ".txt" has been added to the filename of msg66755-1.nwctxt so both nwc2view.exe and nwc.txt now believe that the download is just a text file rather than nwctxt.

Further updates to previous tests

Lunascape updated to 6.12.1
Webkit Engine generates a web page with the nwctxt displayed.
Gecko Engine - Your browser does not support this mechanism
Trident Engine - The Webpage cannot be displayed.

Safari v3.2.2  Generates a web page with the nwctxt displayed.

Rich.

Thanks for all of the feedback. The classic server side download mechanism for code blocks has been reintroduced into the forum. It should now work for nearly all browsers.

Using Firefox 45.0.1 , I still can't go directly to the forums--I have to go to your main site first.

Warren,
It sounds like you still have the old forum URL (http://forum.noteworthysoftware.com) bookmarked. If you update your bookmark to the new URL (http://forum.noteworthycomposer.com) all should work fine.
