note colors

Is there a way to "lock" the default color of notes. When I accidently change the color it is rather a pain toget it back to default?

Right click in an unused part of the screen to the right of the icons.  Be sure there is a check by "Notehead".  When the color goes weird on you click on the dotted line white box icon to set it back to its default color.

The color change shortcut key is the backslash, right above the Enter key and is easy to hit by accident.

The only way I know of is to use a Resource Editor to remove the 'backslash' key from the Accelerator table (ID 288). But this is not sanctioned by NoteWorthy, will cause update problems and may be in violation of NoteWorthy's EULA.

Not really. Make sure you have the 'Item Color Default' button on some visible toolbar. If it becomes unset, click on it until it locks as depressed. Select everything on the staff and bring up 'Properties...' Under the Notes tab, change 'Notehead Color:' to Default.
