Bach piece

I've looked around the Scriptorium but could not find it.
I'm trying to find the Bach piece that starts:
C D Eb F G Ab B(downward leap) Ab(return) G F Eb D [all sixteenths]
C Eb G B(downward leap) D F [all eighths],
then the answer against the countersubject, etc.
I also looked through all the keyboard music books that I have (one of which is supposed to be Bach's complete works...) and can't find it.
Can anyone help me out please?

You use an approach called "Melodic Contour" or "Parsons Code".  It is explained on the site and has remarkable accuracy.

Why not arrange the piece yourself using NWC? 

You know the rhythm, you have the lyrics, and you can find the chord changes on http://Songtrellis.com  Listening to Astrud's recording will give you an idea of the use of backgrounds.

Nice job David! That tune is like a blast from the past only I was thinking Burt Bacharach. Same era. Even though the tune is so familiar the name of it still doesn't ring a bell. I never would have guessed. It keep me awake for a while last night though!

The song has another title too, So Nice.  I couldn't find either title in a couple of online Bacharach discographies, but I don't doubt he would have recorded it.  I think it would be compatible with his style.

Well, I could arrange the piece myself, but is that legal?
It’s still ©ed, isn’t it?
I don’t want to be playing this arrangement at a gig that we’re getting paid for and find out I’m breaking the law...

You'd have to check the copyright laws in the country where you'll be when you make the arrangement.  Try googling the word "copyright" and the name of your country.  You should be able to get some links to the legislation itself, but also there's bound to be some law firm that has prepared questions and answers.

Dear John,

I didn't know this as a keyboard work.  It sounds like Partita no 2 for solo violin, in which form it is in d minor rather than C mi.  Probably lots of midi versions available on the web.  Hope this helps.  -  Andrew Shepperd
