Can't get precussion soundfont to work., help!

So i got audiohq and i mounted a soundfont on it (in bank 10) then, woppedoo! i can use the soundfont in Noteworthy, but i do have a couple of questions...

1. There are 2 bank "controllers" the first says "controller 0" or something and means nr of the MIDI bank, but what is "controller 32"

2. I mounted a drum soundfont (percussion only) but i haven't been able to get any sound, what options must i set in order to make it work? (as it does not work as an "ordinary" soundfont

Thank you for taking them time to read this.

Search the user forum for "drum" or soundfont.

Meanwhile, you may find you get a good drum effect by using Acoustic Piano on channel 10.  I don't know why it works but it does.

I've also noticed a couple of times recently that the staff properties sometimes have nothing in the Playback Device window (I think this is a new thing but I discovered it on an old file I used as a template, so maybe it has to do with opening a version 1.75 file in version 2.)

Press F2 and you'll get the properties for the active staff.  If the window says the playback device is unavailable, just use the vertical scrollbar to move up to one of the devices you've installed.

You install the devices in the Tools, Options, Midi window.

there is nothing wrong with my midi settings, i can get other stuff to work, i just cant get the percussion soundfont to do so. Regular SF's work fine. And i just noticed the drum "trick" on channel 10 yesterday, but i don't want midi drums, they sound so... midi-ish...

Do you have a good snare drum with brushes sound?  If so, I'd appreciate knowing the soundfont and the position on the staff, please.

David.

What soundfonts do you use?
The Brush Set is on Channel 10 - Patch No 40 (zero based) or Patch No 41 (1 based) - Named as Violin in both.

The brush stokes are at:-
38 D2 Brush Tap
39 D#2 Brush Slap
40 E2 Brush Swirl

For 1 based Patch Numbers the following drum kits may be present:-
Patch 1 - (Acc.Piano) - Standard Kit
Patch 9 - (Celeste) - Room Kit
Patch 17 - (Hammond Organ) - Power Set
Patch 25 - (Acc.Guitar Nylon) - Electronic Kit
Patch 33 - (Acc.Bass) - TR-808 Set
Patch 41 - (Violin) - Brush Set
Patch 49 - (String Ensemble) - Orchestral Drums
Patch 57 - (Trumpet) - Sound Effects
Patch 128 - (Gunshot) - C64-32L Set

Subtract 1 for zero based patch numbers.

Depends on your soundcard - not all these variations are available on all cards. Should be present on SF able Creative cards.
The Chaos soundfont provides these plus several others.

Thank you Barry, I'll see if I can make this work.

Touché, Gary, je suis mort.  And thank you for the info.

I installed a nice sound font a while back that I got from Hammersound, I think. I'll try to figure out which one it is later in the week.  It's too late at night for straightthinking just now.
