Beaming Stem-Up & Stem-Down Without Layering

Has anyone found a way to beam notes with the stems in both directions?  I am writing a piece where the tenor part divides into 2 parts on the same staff.  In know this can be accomplished by layering.  However, I only need this function in 2 of 104 measures.  I searched the archives but only found responses for older versions of NWC.

Thanks

Assuming the notes are of equal length first force stem up and enter the note (shift/up arrow).  Then shift/down and press cntl/enter and you're done.

Enter first (top) note with stem up: then position cursor for second (lower) note, select stem down, hit Ctrl - Enter, et voilà.

Sorry, I missed the word beam in your question.  I can't put a beam on both ends either.

Staff layering is the only way to accomplish this.

Sorry, me too.
I don't think it's possible.
