Re: Muted note(s) Reply #1 – 2003-08-27 08:22 pm Do you mean as in no sound whatsoever (select a note, cntl/E, then click "Muted") or a musician sticks something in his bell or on his bridge to muffle the sound? Quote Selected
Re: Muted note(s) Reply #2 – 2003-08-30 09:24 am Or if you mean a written note which looks as though it has an "X" through it, a judiciously placed text entry over the notehead does the trick. Quote Selected
Re: Muted note(s) Reply #3 – 2004-07-28 05:57 pm How can you mute just one note in a chord? Or even select just one note in a chord? Quote Selected
Re: Muted note(s) Reply #4 – 2004-07-29 01:00 am You can mute an individual note as suggested by Warren, or you can mute the entire staff, using staff properties (F2) or simply M for mute, where you toggle each staff on and off.If you use a layered staff you can get a circular open notehead with an X as well. On one staff enter a half or whole note in regular notation. On the other, in the same postion enter a half or whole note with an X notehead. Layer the staffs. You can't mute just one note in a chord (I'm not sure why you'd want to?). What you can do, though, is use a layered staff. On the first staff enter the complete chord minus the note you want to mute; on the second staff enter the complete chord and mute it.If all you're interested in is the sound (not the notation), if you want to hear how a chord sounds when you add or remove a note or two, just copy the chord as many times as you like, removing or adding notes each time.
