Incidental Notes

I am trying to input a song which needs an extra note in one of the verses (I think it is called an incidental note).  On the music the note is in brackets - how do I input it so it only plays on the correct verse?

You can insert brackets around the note as ordinary text comments.

There two ways to insert a syllable on a specific verse but not on others:

1. Change the note's lyric attribute to never and insert the extra syllable as text.

2. Don't change the lyric attribute but insert an underline in the text in the other verses. (better choice)

If you want the note to only play on given verses you could making two copies of the staff and add the incidental to one then overlap the two bars. Then change the value of the volume for each repeat of the verse so that the one with the incidental is ppp when you don't want to hear it.

If you want it to look nice you could put an invisible rest on the staff without the incidental.
