NWC on Linux 2026-06-06 08:48 AM My computer does not support Windows 11.Sadly NWC never provided a version for Linux. Nevertheless I installed Linux on an external USB drive and if I unplug the USB drive, I can still boot in Windows 10.I have chosen for Linux Mint and I must admit that after using it for some weeks now, I begin to prefer it over Windows 10. To be able to run NWC, I installed Oracle Virtual Box with an old Windows XP (no activation needed) and installed my copy of NWC. Now NWC works also perfect on Linux Bart Quote Selected
Re: NWC on Linux Reply #1 – 2026-06-06 10:19 AM If I remember correctly, long ago I installed ubuntu and I run NWC on wine without problems. Quote Selected
Re: NWC on Linux Reply #2 – 2026-06-06 12:03 PM Yes, I tried this also several years ago, but first I needed Timidity to get (bad) sound, then wine and after a reboot, my configuration was lost and I needed to configure it again. Not really useful in my opinion. With a virtual machine on my new Linux and an old Windows XP, there is no hassle at all.Bart Quote Selected 1 Likes
Re: NWC on Linux Reply #3 – 2026-06-06 08:30 PM I'd rather deal with Wine than XP, personally. I'm on Mint and use Fluidsynth for the MIDI. Timidity didn't want to work well. I'm happy to compare notes if you want to give it another go. Quote Selected
