Dotted Slur 2005-05-03 01:16 am Hi, I have a question regarding dotted slurs (I'm not certain that's their "technical" name, but they are slurs made out of a dotted line instead of a solid line and are generally used to say a rest or breath does NOT take place between 2 words/phrases). My question is simple: Is it possible to use this kind of slur in NWC? I can find normal slurs and ties, but not with the dotted line. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Quote Selected
Re: Dotted Slur Reply #1 – 2005-05-03 03:46 am They are also used when different verses of lyrics have differing numbers of syllables. They have to be entered as text via a special font and juggled to get them in the correct place, only for preparing a printed page. Quote Selected
Re: Dotted Slur Reply #2 – 2005-05-04 02:31 am Actually, I have developed a way to achieve this effect without the slur font.I have been using a dingbat font that has a thick version of |.I insert a text item consisting of | | | | | | | | (or however many are needed), highlighted white, justified right.Of course, this works only if the slur is above or below the staff. If the slur is in the staff, I have a much more complicated way to do it that I can't describe here (well, I suppose I could...).
