General Discussion / Left bar option for single staff
Is it possible to add a left bar line when you have only a single staff? The discussion referenced above says that an open staff (no bar line at the left) is standard with single staffs. But, visually, it would look nicer to have a bar line at the left. Is this possible with v. 2.75a?
If not, please consider this post an updated wish-list item. Thank you.

General Discussion / Wish-list: Eliminate (or allow control of) courtesy hyphens
According to the post at https://forum.noteworthycomposer.com/?topic=9078.msg64660#msg64660, you can eliminate this second hyphen manually by forcing a line break at the appropriate point in the Lyrics dialog. Yes, this does work, but it is tedious, it makes a mess of the lyrics as shown in the dialog, and you have to keep updating the lyrics if you change note spacing, etc., and the lyrics get shifted.
In short, there should be a checkbox somewhere in the Properties to automatically show/hide these second or courtesy hyphens. And the default should be "hide".
Thank you.

User Tools / Re: How to (1) alter code and (2) get it back into the notation file
One reason I want to do this is to get RestChords into the music. I see the notation and the code for it in a piece I downloaded, but I don't think it's possible to insert a RestChord in NWC itself.

User Tools / How to (1) alter code and (2) get it back into the notation file
So, how do you edit the code for your selected notes? You can't edit it in the window that appears after making the selection describe above.
And then how do you get your edited code translated back into the notation file itself?
Thanks!

General Discussion / Set Upper Boundary too small and text goes off the screen
If I set the Upper Boundary of the upper staff to 5 (the minimum - to squeeze as much as possible on the page) the text goes off the computer screen and is apparently inaccessible to editing thereafter, once you save and close the file so Undo is no longer available. This seems to be a simple glitch that could easily be corrected in the programming.

General Discussion / Re: my friend is having noteworthy (unregistered) problems. No sound is playing.
If you have just added a hardwire device (such as a music keyboard), the above possibility may well be the cause of no sound (especially if you had sound before). Try different device settings until you hit upon a combination that allows for both input and sound.
Also, Windows Volume Control - the one with the multiple slide-bars - is a little deceptive. Even if "Volume Control" is set to a positive value, if the slide-bar for "SW Synth" is at the bottom (which seems to happen by itself sometimes), you will get no sound. Make sure all the slide-bars are up.

General Discussion / Re: Extra note spacing WITHOUT extra accidental spacing?
One remaining minor problem: Using Force System Break at the end (as described in this string of posts) does ensure that the last line is long as the others. But, the measures per line are not even. I have three lines total. First line, 6 measures (plus one partial measure at the beginning); second line, 7 measures; last line, 2 measures s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d out. I guess you just have to force system breaks here and there, by trial and error? Or is there a programmatic way to force the lines to have approximately equal numbers of measures? Thanks.

General Discussion / Possible to have bar lines enter automatically when writing on multiple staves?
I'm arranging SATB music on 4 staves. Is it possible to have the bar lines entered automatically on staves 2, 3, and 4 once I enter them (and the notes) on staff 1? Or do I have to repeat the tabbing process all the way across for all four parts? Thanks.

General Discussion / Re: Extra note spacing WITHOUT extra accidental spacing?
On the top staff, add a bar line just before the final bar line. Select this bar line, Edit > Properties > Force System Break. You end up with an extra mini-measure at the end of the top staff. It does not appear in Print Preview and does not print.

General Discussion / Extra note spacing WITHOUT extra accidental spacing?
Preliminary question: When you use Extend Last System, why does only the staff itself stretch out, but not the notes/chords on it?
Main question: In order to improve the appearance on the page caused by the above-mentioned anomoly, I apply Extra Note Spacing on the last line. Problem: If you apply this feature to a note/chord than contains an accidental, the note/chord stretches out, but the accidental stays in place, creating a wide space between the accidental and the note. Is there any way to force the accidental to stay directly next to its note?
Additional question: Is there a way to apply Extra Note Spacing simultaneously to all the notes in a given vertical position, on multiple staves?
Thanks.

General Discussion / Re: How to selectively hide?
A related question: I re-input the music (SATB) on four staves, then layered SA staves and TB staves. Once you layer, it appears that you cannot select the lower of the notes of "chord" to change it (e.g., move it up or down). Only the upper (top-staff) note is selected. So I guess while I'm editing/reharmonizing, I'll need to unlayer, then relayer when I'm done?

General Discussion / How to selectively hide?
This should be pretty basic, but I can't figure it out. I downloaded a simple piece of music. The inputter entered 2 vocal parts on a single staff (rather than on separate staffs and then layering them). As a result, there are odd combinations of notes and rests. For example, a musically unnecesary eighth rest is lined up vertically with a quarter note. How can I select only the rest and hide it? When I select that vertical segment, the note gets hidden, but not the rest. Thanks.
