missing dynamics

I wrote a tune with NWC and saved it as a MIDI file. Using Crescendo everything sounded great. But when imported the file back into NWC all the dynamic changes were gone. No forte. No piano. No pianissimo. All gone. All the tracks played as if everything was forte or louder. I am using the upgrade 155-b. I then tried loading other midi files with the same result. Have I done something wrong or is there a problem with the program?

The same thing happened to me when I tried re-importing a file. As far as I know, dynamics are not something supported on midi file import.

No, it simply doesn't import (yet) such events. Why didn't you save your score as a standard NWC program ???
Note that if you make a specific layout with M$Word for instance and you save it as text, all your layout will be lost...
Though here the midi events are exported. What I'd tell you is to work with NWC format, and export to midi at the last stage. (Note: caution with fermata, refer to previous messages).

As you suggested, I do indeed save a copy of a tune in nwc format so that I can easily make changes.
But I first noticed the problem when I imported a midi file that I had downloaded from the internet. All I wanted to do was make a change in the tempo. That should have taken me only a few seconds to do. But with all the dynamics missing I spent hours trying to recreate the origional volume changes on 8 tracks of music. I never got it just right.
If Crescendo and other midi players can detect the dynamic changes then I can only assume that midi files contain the information needed to play a tune correctly. I hope that you are able to fix this in the next revision of your truly great program.

If you just wanted to change a tempo, then maybe NWC ain't the simpliest solution. Try a midi event editor, maybe simply the midi2txt.exe / txt2midi.exe that you can find on http://noteworthy.beyondtheweb.com or referenced somewhere in the forum (I think of https://forum.noteworthycomposer.com/?topic=746 reply 3)
Aside of this dynamics problem, you would probably also notice some "duration" problem, especially if you don't want an illegible score and set the note/rest resolution "low". But that is an other discussion...
