Non-GM Drum Mappings

I'm trying to import some MIDI sequences from an Ensoniq ASR into NWC. Unfortunately, the Drum track uses a drum sample set that is not General MIDI, and the drum track sounds pretty bizzarre. Not being the Musician who performed the sequences in the first place, I don't know what particular percussion is being used.

Is there a good resource somewhere where I could find out which MIDI note matches which percussion sound? I've found all sorts of fascinating things about MIDI in my search, but not this.

Thanks for any help in advance - Ron ron_e@juno.com

Ron,

The same question was asked and answered about five questions down from this one.

The previous thread answered what the General MIDI standard assignments for percussion are. I've actually found that in several places. My question though has to do with some non-standard mappings. I know what to map them to now thanks to that previous thread, I just don't know what to map them from. :-)

I've spent some time surfing to various places, but haven't found my particular answer yet. I may have to just reserve some time with the keyboard and guess (percussion is not my strong point), but if anyone knows a good source, I'd rather get it right.

Thanks - Ron

Yes. I see that I didn't answer your question. Sorry if I sounded a bit flippant :~(

have you tried surfing at www.ensoniq.com? From there you should be able to pose your question to someone who can help you.

Hope THIS helps! :-)
