Specifying systems per page and measures per line

Is there a way to set up the initial page so that there is only three systems on the first page, and five on all subsequent pages?
And is there a way to set up the the previewed page to consist of only four measures per line?

I don't usually concern myself with these issues, but I'm working on something for our organist (her own compositions) who would like these specifications.

Thanks for any help.

Hi Judy,
for 4 bars per system: simply go to each 4th barline on the top staff and select its properties and set a system break.  Easiest part of the whole thing.

To change systems per page, if you set the staff sizing so you get 5 systems on subsequent pages you will have part of the problem resolved.

The next step would be to adjust the heading size (|Page|Setup|Fonts (tab) change the "Page Title Text" size) to change how much space the heading takes up and you may be able to persuade it to use only 3 systems for the front page.  A little judicious juggling of system font sizing, margins and heading size can yield surprising results.  Even using the copyright fields to use up space on the bottom of the front page can help.

If you cannot get it to work with the above, perhaps a 2 part printing process will be necessary.

Setup 2 NWC files, one with systems wanted on the first page and the other with the rest of the work.  With the file for second and subsequent pages do not put any file information details (leave it all blank) and reduce the size of the heading font to the smallest you can (this latter part may not be necessary with no heading details, I haven't tested it).  If you want bar line numbers, you'll need to set the starting bar number in page setup to make them consistent with the numbering on the first page.

Thank you!, thank you, thank you!

PS. I have a friend who plays 'bones and youfonymums, and sings in my choir. He teaches low brass at a nearby university.
