Printing Problem

I'm having a strange printing problem. I've been using Noteworthy for some time on a WIN 3.1 system with no problems, but I have recently upgraded to WIN95 (on a new system) and I am having printing problems. The notes appear to be surrounded by blocks of white-space which obscure the lines, or whatever else is around them.

I can't be sure, but I *think* that it worked fine when I first installed it, but then I lost my hard disk and had to re-install everything from scratch, and it hasn't worked since.

I'm useing a registered copy of 1.30f WIN95 OSR2 (installed from scratch, not over win3.1) A canon Bj10ex, using the microsoft WIN95 drivers

I'm using the 32bit version of Noteworthy, but the 16 bit version suffers the same problem.

The old (shareware) version on the win3.1 system still prints OK (using the same printer).

The problem exists on ALL printing from noteworthy. Other printing (e.g. word, powerpoint etc. seems just fine).

Any suggestions? Resolutions, things to try?

Oh I tried re-installing Noteworthy, with no effect.

I had similar problems when I bought a new PC. The fault lies in the graphics drivers supplied with some video cards. In my case this is a Matrox Mystique. The problem was only brought to light on the Microsoft Knowledge Base on 18 February. The fix with the Matrox card is to turn off the use of the PowerGDI Acceleration in the display control panel MGA settings. No need to reboot for the correction to work. It affected any program which prints text (the notes in Noteworthy) over graphics (the staves).

I hope this helps

Spot on. Thanks Phil. I would never have figured that one out. It looks like my duaghter was right, and it DID work at first. I vaguely remember I might have set the switch when I re-installed the Matrox drivers. Just goes to show you should make a note of *everything* you do.

Just for the record, I just loaded MAtrox's latest drivers for the Mystique (3.41) and that appears to have fixed the problem. i.e. I can turn on GDI acceleration with no problems.

I have a Canon bjc-4300 and it feeds paper but nothing prints. Are the printer jets bad or what? I put in new ink jets but that didn't help.
