Default Fonts

I think I may have raised this before, but cannot find further information on the forum, so :

Is there a way to change the default fonts (printing fonts, that is) as a user?

I normally want to use Arial typeface, as I have found it is easier for singers to read than Times Roman.  However, at the moment, when I start a new file I have to change every font to Arial.  I also prefer to reduce the Page Title Text font from 24, since that takes up a lot of space on the page!

So, I would like to change the default font to, in my case, Arial, and also the font size.

I assume that there are other defaults which it would be helpful for the user to change to suit their own tastes/needs?

Thankyou

Rosemary

Hi Rosemary

There isn't a way to change the defaults so that the Aerial font is there for every new file you create BUT

What you can do is to create a template file as you would like it  and save it in your templates folder.

For any new file, you can then start using your template file and it will always be set up as you want it.

So ...  set up a file as you want it.
Maybe with a voice line ( or SATB if for a choir). Set up the instruments as you want them.
Change all the fonts to Aerial (or whatever)

Save the file as (for example) Mytemplate.nwc and make sure that you save it to the templates folder in the NWC program directory.
(Note ...  depending on the operating system, it may be easier to save this file elsewhere and then copy it to the templates folder ...  som operating systems do not like you saving to the program folder area.)

From then on, when starting a new file, From the menu, select File|New   (or CTRL N).
In the template list presented, you will then see "Mytemplate" - select this and all will be set up for you.

Since you picked yup a template, when you save, the save will be in the folder that you normally save nwc files to. It will not overwrite the template file.
