deleting discussion group messages

I currently have 308 pages of comments in the discusssion group and I would like to delete at least half of them I tried the "mark all as read" at the bottom of the pages but nothing changed.

If you click on the "Show unread posts since last visit" you'll only see the new ones.

If you're worried about loading all 308 pages into your computer, don't be. That's a count of what's on the server. The only messages that load into your machine are the ones you ask for.
