Convert to Midi

Can anyone suggest a good free Wav to Midi converter?
My initial attempts using AmazingMidi were not as I hoped. Has anyone else used it?

Read the alt.music.midi newsgroup FAQ here:-

The section on Wave and mp3 to MIDI is section 2.07.
That should answer your question.

The best way requires a good musical ear - it's called transcription.
A useful transcribing tool is Amazing Slowdowner from Roni Music.

Thanks Barry, for the prompt and exaustive answer.

No short cuts then!
Must carry on with the ear training.

Some people seem to be impressed with some of the software that tries to accomplish this task, but the vast majority are not. Some are impressed by a dancing pig - not because the pig dances well, but because it seems to dance at all. You have to judge for yourself.
