MIDI wind

I am a clarinet player and I'm wondering if there is a MIDI wind input device with clarinet fingerings? I know Yamaha makes one with sax and flute fingerings but it doesnt have the keys for clarinet throat tones and breaks in octives instead of 12ths.

Any suggestions?

I know that MIDI guitar are in fact equipped with a micro that produces MIDI events from the sound it receives. Maybe using such a microphone on your clarinet would help. I'll try on my flute as soon as I get my friend's guitar :-)

Do you want to use this as a performing instrument or for entering MIDI data to a file? A box called "Amadeus" is a pitch to MIDI translator that will convert your clarinet playing instantly into MIDI data. I think it is made by Roland. I have read several articles about it, but have not tried it. There are also software programs that will enter your instrument pitches as midi files, but I don't think they will produce other sounds instantly like "Amadeus" supposedly does.

I was actually hoping to use it in part for practicing after the kids are asleep, you know, put on headphones.

In that case that's a "fake" clarinet that you want, as an electric-guitar-ist would do without electricity.
Dunno if this exists, but if it exists for flute, it should exist for a clarinet. Probably as expensive as a real clarinet I fear. Maybe Roland, if Yamaha doesn't do that ?
