Flag groupings for simplified reading

Something Noteworthy 2.19 can't do: Flag groupings for simplified reading:

It's a big mess when you've got eight 32nd notes beamed together and no groupings.

G'day Bob,,
this is true, but you can fake it with layering.  Here's a Quick and Dirty...

Staff 1:
Code: [Select · Download]
!NoteWorthyComposerClip(2.0,Single)
|Clef|Type:Treble
|TimeSig|Signature:4/4
|Note|Dur:16th|Pos:-6|Opts:Stem=Up,Beam=First
|Note|Dur:16th|Pos:-5|Opts:Stem=Up,Beam
|Note|Dur:16th|Pos:-4|Opts:Stem=Up,Beam
|Note|Dur:16th|Pos:-3|Opts:Stem=Up,Beam=End
|Note|Dur:16th|Pos:-2|Opts:Stem=Up,Beam=First
|Note|Dur:16th|Pos:-1|Opts:Stem=Up,Beam
|Note|Dur:16th|Pos:0|Opts:Stem=Up,Beam
|Note|Dur:16th|Pos:1|Opts:Stem=Up,Beam=End
|Note|Dur:16th|Pos:1|Opts:Stem=Up,Beam=First
|Note|Dur:16th|Pos:0|Opts:Stem=Up,Beam
|Note|Dur:16th|Pos:-1|Opts:Stem=Up,Beam
|Note|Dur:16th|Pos:-2|Opts:Stem=Up,Beam=End
|Note|Dur:16th|Pos:-3|Opts:Stem=Up,Beam=First
|Note|Dur:16th|Pos:-4|Opts:Stem=Up,Beam
|Note|Dur:16th|Pos:-5|Opts:Stem=Up,Beam
|Note|Dur:16th|Pos:-6|Opts:Stem=Up,Beam=End
!NoteWorthyComposerClip-End

Staff 2:
Code: [Select · Download]

|Note|Dur:16th|Pos:-5|Opts:Stem=Up,Beam=End,Muted
|Note|Dur:8th|Pos:-4|Opts:Stem=Up,Beam=First,Muted
|Note|Dur:8th|Pos:-2|Opts:Stem=Up,Beam=End,Muted
|Note|Dur:16th|Pos:0|Opts:Stem=Up,Beam=First,Muted
|Note|Dur:16th|Pos:1|Opts:Stem=Up,Beam=End,Muted
|Note|Dur:16th|Pos:1|Opts:Stem=Up,Beam=First,Muted
|Note|Dur:16th|Pos:0|Opts:Stem=Up,Beam=End,Muted

I must say, I hadn't thought of this!  I never dreamed layering would actually come in handy in such a way as this.  I've only used it for chords.  Good workaround!

Mmmmm... I found a problem with that suggestion:  If I ungroup the first set of 32nds, and regroup them as groups of four, then the flags go different directions (one's horizontal and the other's slanted).  Can't use your workaround there.

EDIT:  Never mind.  I found a lovely little attribute attached to the note properties called "Override stem length."  That solves my problem and your suggestion works quite well.

Not that I'm complaining, as I'm a long time user and love the product, but it would be nice if NWC2 did this (as well as other things previously asked for) natively as opposed to having to use a workaround.

Exactly.  Having to use layering is okay in a score, but for parts, it just won't do.
Layering causes a "left barline" that simply does not belong there.
A single staff should never begin with a barline.

This would seem to be a better thing to fix than to abandon layering for a single part.

True, but in the meantime, a little "digital white-out" goes a long way...

Not for this. It is a major PITA. Better to use some "digital white-out" to fix the first system, then crop the rest, except that measure #'s get cut as well.

This should be easy to fix. After 3 years of betas, it should be fixed.

I believe we've had the "left barline" discussion before, but I can't seem to find it right now.

Thanks for finding that, Rick.
