G'say Paul,
this can be done by placing a text object.
- If you haven't already done so, download and install a suitable text font
- In |File|Page Setup|Fonts (Tab) assign the font as a User font and choose a suitable size - you may have to experiment later.
- Position the cursor where you want the sign and press <x>
- In the dialogue place the necessary characters, you could "cut and paste" from this reply...
- Choose the correct user font
- Check the placement options and click OK
I have 3 font suites available for use with NWC which all contain suitable characters.
For crotchet = crotchet you would use "Œ=Œ" (no quotes) from SwingText, MusikTextSans or MusikTextSerif.
These fonts are available via the Scripto: http://nwc-scriptorium.org/helpful.html#Fonts
To make character choice easy Typecase is a wonderful tool... Much better than "Charmap".
Being a text object, they have no effect on playback so you would still need a metronome mark but you would hide it.
