Swing 8ths 1998-06-22 04:00 am Hi everyone, it's me again!!! I'm writing a jazz tune, and it sounds really stupid with straight 8ths. Is there any way to set it to play swing 8ths without literally changing it to 2 tied triplet 8ths and another triplet 8th. Thanks for any help!!!Jonathan Quote Selected
Re: Swing 8ths Reply #1 – 1998-06-22 04:00 am I know what you mean - it's like trying to run in lead boots! The only solution to your problem is to export as a Midi to a sequencer that can quantize at different strengths. Most sequencers will do this - Cakewalk et al.A strength of 62% seems about right - it adds the swing without creating a 12/8 feel. Re: Swing 8ths Reply #3 – 1998-06-26 04:00 am What I do (it can be a little annoying at times) ismake 2 successive 8th notes into a quarter-eighth triplet. That's how almost how swinging is done in real life Quote Selected
Re: Swing 8ths Reply #4 – 1998-06-26 04:00 am I agree with Barry that making it into full triplets (which I wrote a RECORDER macro - Marsu has said several times recently how useful macros are - to do very easily) swings it a little too far. It'd be nice to have something in there which let us specify time weigtings for groups.I know we've discussed this before, becuase I remember talking about options not only for swinging duplets, but also for swinging triplets to give jigs the right feel.Andrew Quote Selected
