notes above the staff

I new to NWC, and love 1.50b but I have a problem, when
inserting notes like F,G,A B, etc, above the staff the toolbar
is in the way and I cannot see the notes that I'm trying to insert.how can I get around this?

Type F2 and increase the vertical size of the staff (upper). This should take care of the problem, I just tried it and it worked for me.

The response Ken Mund gave is the way to do it. I've had the same problem and it works well for me. I also use it when doing parts for instruments which play below the staff in the same fashion. Remember when printing your score or individual parts out, though, that the vertical sizing you gave it will come into play. I've had some cases in which I went back and closed the spacing after I was done working with each stave.
