Newbie help

I am evaluating Noteworthy Composer and having a bit of difficulty. Is there any way to enter secondary notes within a local repeat. By this I mean that on the second time through, there is a slight variation in the notes at one point. I would hate to have to re-enter the entire repeat and change that one area. (I know copy and paste will work fine, but printing will be a bear). Also, I am having some difficulty with a measure. It is piano treble staff. There is a series of eighth notes, barred. Additionally, there are a series of quarter notes barred. NWC doesn't seem to want to let me bar them individually (ie. quarters barred to quarters, eights barred to eights). One last one, and then I'll stop complaining. How do you enter a broken chord (wavy line) in NWC? Any help would be greatly appreciated, it's a great program.

Hi, Michael, and welcome to NWC!

Repeats can be quite tricky! If you want to alter some notes in the middle of a section, then it's not strictly a repeat. The only way I know is to use the first and second time bar control (look in the menu <insert - special ending>) and duplicate the remainder of the section. Examples of this sort of thing can be found in the samples folder, entitled repeat1..4.
I'm not quite sure what your barring problem is - if the notes are occasionally chorded then the barring is preset. If the sequences follow on, i.e. the end of the sequence of eighth notes is barred to the beginning of the sequence of quarter notes presumably you used automatic beam. Just select the group of notes you want to split. Click the beam notes button on the toolbar to unbar the group. Then reselect the notes you want to bar and click the beam button again.
Broken chords are not supported (as yet!), but have been discussed on a number of occasions.
