Playback device

I used to compose using noteworthy, when my computer crashed.  The songs were saved, but noteworthy composer itself had to be deleted.  I can reinstall it either b/c I can't find the disk.  I d/l the evaluation version and it uses midi mapper as the playback device.  I used wavesynth on all of the songs that I had already written so it sounds rather, off now.  Wavesynth is no longer available as a playback selection.  Any ideas on how I can fix this?

Thank you,
Cam

Outside of NWC... Open your computer's volume control. Can you find the wavetable synth there? If not, NWC probably can't find it either.

G'day Cam,
whose wavetable synth was it?

Creative had a product called "WaveSynth" - it seems to be quite old and probably came with an old soundcard.  Perhaps an AWE64?

WinXP installs an MS GS wavetable synth and my Creative Audigy installed a sw synth when I installed the Creative software.  I don't recall whether older versions of Windows supplied a softsynth or not.

If you have a soundfont capable soundcard then there has been several discussions relating to sourcing soundfonts - just use the site search function, you'll find 'em.

Also there are trial copies of the Yamaha XG softsynth out there too.  Just be careful, many of the sites hosting it seem to have exploits on them and there is a buggy version of the WinXP version that doesn't install/work (not sure which).

The synth (Microsoft) came with my computer. Whether is it a prodct of MS that comes with Windows, or is part of the sound card driver, I do not know.

Suggestion: Re-install the sound card driver.
