Need help converting midi to wav.

OKay, I'm using NWC2, Garritan Personal Orchestra, and Cubase LE.  When NWC plays through GPO, it sounds heavenly.  Does anyone have any idea how to convert that playback to a wav file?  I've been looking through the Cubase manual, the NWC manual, and on the GPO website, and I can't anything.

I would appreciate ANY help.  Thanks.

Go to Sourceforge's website and download the free audio editor Audacity.  http://audacity.sourceforge.net
Open Audacity and NWC2.  Double-click the speaker icon in the taskbar, go to Options, Properties, Recording, selcet the Wave Out Mix with the volume turned down to the first notch.  Click the Record button in Audacity, immediately switch over to NWC2 and click Play.  When the piece is finished, switch to Audacity and click the stop button.  Save your project as a .wav file 44.1 kHz sampling rate, 16 bit and you are ready to burn it to a CD.

Grr.  I'm using an Alesis USB mixer; it makes a nice mixer and stands as an external soundcard.  Without the Alesis as a USB soundcard, my computer isn't powerful enough to run GPO.

When I go to the recording properties, I have the option of selecting the SoundMax card on the computer, or the USB Codec.  If I use the onboard SoundMax, it's not enough to run GPO.  If I select the USB Codec, I can't adjust the output volume on the computer (it just grays out, the option isn't there).  This makes the Audacity recording barely audible; I get a lot of hiss if I raise the vloume in post, of course.  I have to turn up the main mix on the mixer almost all the way up to compensate.  More hiss.  Or I can turn the individual instrument sounds in GPO up.  Then I get distortion.  Sometimes distortion is cool, but not with clarinets and oboes.  Although I suppose I could trick it out with some flange and a phat beat. :)

It looks like Audacity is a great little program, but that it's not going to work with the odd little mix of software and hardware I have.

Again, grrr.

If you have Nero burning software just use the Wave Editor, it has a great Recorder.

Having tried Audacity I prefer to use a very simple program called Ripvinyl which converts any sounds going through your PC from CD midi or whatever to a WAV file, which you can then copy to CD or DVD
The free trial version inserts a tone every few seconds but lets you see how it works; however the program is inexpensive $10.95 ( although VAT may be added in some countries)  from Ripvinyl.com

I've got an antiquated version of CoolEdit. A pity it's so expensive (I've got a 'grey' copy, my brother let me have the CD for a few minutes) but it's good, and I recently used it for polishing up the recordings of our last performance.
And I have used CoolEdit on numerous occasions where Noteworthy-sound needed to be CD'd.

Don't overlook Synthfont.
Pick your own instrumention for a midi and it renders it to a wave file. Easy and free.

I suspect that the use of an external sound card will not allow you to playback and record at the same time.
This may have to be a two stage recording. First of all play back the track, take the audio out of the headphone/line out from the external sound card/mixer and feed that into any normal recording device/home hi fi. Then, once recorded, playback the track from the device, feeding the audio into the external sound card, recording as .wav in the normal way.
Another way might be to use a second pc. Feeding the audio out of the external soundcard/mixer directly into the 'line in' of the soundcard on second pc, recording as .wav on that pc.

No easy solutions, i'm afraid.

External sound card? I do not quite understand.

Anyway, I have played back and recorded on one and the same PC often enough, using XP.

I have a bit of a clumsy way, but maybe you can use this too.
I put a plug in my line out of my computer (where usually my audio box is plugged in) and the other end goes in the line in (aux) of my stereo. I stick an old fashion tape in my tape deck and press record. Press play in noteworthy and it records the sound.
Some people requested a tape, so they could play it in their car or so. That’s why I had to find a trick to do that. I also have trouble playing a midi and record it at the same time, though I did find a free prog for it. But is gives a bad result, very unpleasant sound to listen to.

im currently using tha Nero wave editor but i cant seem to overdub my first vocals.i used to work with cool edit pro but my mic doesnt really stand a chance to produce the right sound.for some strange reason, nero wave produces my vocals so clear and hiss free.so i would really want to know if i can back track my vocals.
