Pauses 1998-05-12 04:00 am How do I add a pause to a note? I know it is possible becausethe Chopin Prelude in the samples has one on the last chord.TIADave Quote Selected
Re: Pauses Reply #1 – 1998-05-12 04:00 am OK. David, the semicircle with dot symbol used to denote a pause is called a 'fermata' (I didn't know this until I started using NWC!) and is added using Insert - Tempo Variance - Fermata. Put the entry point just before the note at an appropriate staff position (7 or 8 usually suffices, and the latest upgrade to 1.51a makes sure it is positioned above the note). Set the delay time to suit yourself. Thanks for the thanks! Peter. Quote Selected
Re: Pauses Reply #2 – 1998-05-18 04:00 am As a slight clarification to Peter Vasey's comment, a "fermata" extends the duration of a note for the indicated time. On the same menu, there is also a "breath" mark which acutally pauses the music for the indicated amount of time (so short-winded singers like me can catch their breath). Quote Selected
