Pauses

How do I add a pause to a note? I know it is possible because
the Chopin Prelude in the samples has one on the last chord.
TIA
Dave

OK. David, the semicircle with dot symbol used to denote a pause is called a 'fermata' (I didn't know this until I started using NWC!) and is added using Insert - Tempo Variance - Fermata. Put the entry point just before the note at an appropriate staff position (7 or 8 usually suffices, and the latest upgrade to 1.51a makes sure it is positioned above the note). Set the delay time to suit yourself. Thanks for the thanks! Peter.

As a slight clarification to Peter Vasey's comment, a "fermata" extends the duration of a note for the indicated time. On the same menu, there is also a "breath" mark which acutally pauses the music for the indicated amount of time (so short-winded singers like me can catch their breath).
