writing chord

I´m a new user of NWC. I can´t figure out how to write a chord (ex. C, F, etc.) above a note or a rest. When I use the text-insert command, the chord is placed whether to the left of the note or to the right.

In the "Text Expression" window, just un-check the "Preserve Width" checkbox.
And for better placement, set 8 for the "staff position".
Hope this helps.

P.S. Take a look at the examples, you'll learn much. :-)

I was wondering how you actually put in a chord on the
actual music... Not actually above it.. For example
the keyboard chords or C E G etc...
Thanx

Wanting to find a program that will let me take existing (printed_ music and edit it such that we can change the key and then to add some harmony (2nd and or third) - does the program write harmony?

Stussy,
do you mean that you want to put simultaneaous notes ? In tht case, enter the first one, then move (up/down) to the 2nd note, and press Ctrl+Enter. And so on.
Look at the "Chord Member Command" in the online help, it also tells about 2 stems chords and different-lengthed notes.

Ted,
midiscan (though slow) will let you convert scanned sheets into Midi, that you can import into NWC where you can change the key (transpose), but it doesn't write harmony itself. But it's really easy to do (copy, paste into another staff, move up/down and change some notes).

Hope this helps.
