NWC 2 cursor lockup

I'm experiencing a random error:  When I've used Nwc2 for a while, my left mouse click won't set the cursor on any staff.  I can right click and get a drop down menu, but not left click to set the cursor insertion point.  But, I simply save my work, shut down the program and restart and all is fine.  Anyone else have this problem? Bug?

First thing to do is: find out if it is a hardware or software problem. Get another mouse, preferably a USB one, plug it in, and find out if the problem goes away.
The more direct answer to you question is: no, I have not experienced the problem myself.

I haven't experienced the same problem, but do get memory problems occasionally.  When I try to move the insertion point within the same staff, using the  arrows or using the mouse, everything gets highlighted.

It's usually when I've got a lot of stuff running at the same time, or when I've done an edit that requires a lot of computing in NWC - such as copying a block of notes from one staff to another in a full score, then moving them up and down to transpose them.

There are two cures.  The first one is to highlight and delete a note then using undo to bring the note back.  Sometimes that won't clear the roadblock, so I close NWC and any other programs that don't have to be running, then reopen NWC.

When I first reported this in the private beta test, the consensus was that my system is "buggy."  That's probably true.  The behaviour is intermittent, and I can live with it now that I've figured out how to fix it on the run.

Mark,

It would seem that your bug is pretty unique. Congratulations! :-)

Firstly, I would check device drivers for both your graphics card and (more likely) your mouse. If both are fully up to date, and the error still occurs, then I'd have to ask which version of windows you are running. I've personally found that a lot (but not 100%) of errors encountered under Windows 98 (due to poor [well, not as robust] memory management) went away with Windows XP.

I don't know what I'm doing different, but I haven't noticed the problem for a week now.  BTW, I'm using a Wireless optical mouse and it has its own software.  I'm betting the problem is most likely there.  If I have problems again, I'll switch mice as others suggest and go from there.  Thanks to all!

I use a wireless optical wheelmouse but the problems didn't get worse when I installed it.

I suspect my internet security package takes more memory than I like, since my email program has regularly crashed since I upgraded from just an antivirus program.
