nwc2

is it just me? All these requests on the forum seem to be asking for champagne on a beer budget? I think NWC has given us an outstanding notation program which may not be designed to score for the Boston symphony yet that seems to be what is expected of them. I think it's time to get real and to say thanks for all they have given us for the more than modest fee asked in return  There now i feel better.

In many ways, I agree with Rik.  I have been able to make very good looking scores with NWC2.  Though some requests are certainly modest, such as the one for a breve, others are not, and there are many problems that can be got round with imagination and reflection.  This is not to say that requests for new capabilities shouldn't be made.  After all, Noteworthy has a wishlist and invites contributions.  As well, don't sell the programmers short: we don't know what they might be able to give us, even on a beer budget. But, there is still much in what Rik has said.

I recently used NWC for a project I did with the Boston Pops,
and nobody thought there were any problems with their parts.
(The score was another story however...)

I know that I would like to thank the folks at NWC for all they have done.  Any time I have had a problem or a question, I have received prompt and detailed assistance. Many problems that I have encountered stem from a lack of computer-savy on my part. They don't get upset, they simply guide me through and viola; problem solved! They have set up this forum so that we can all benefit from one anothers trials and they even offer their help when we get stuck on an issue.
I am sure that they weighed the pros and cons of opening the floodgates of NWC2 trial software and wishlist. To be certain, they got more than they were expecting in the way of demands or requests but surely they are able to filter out those requests that are totaly beyond. Some people just have no idea what goes into a project. As a carpenter I often hear people say "Well, can't you just..."
The short answer is "Yeah as long as you don't mind ripping out 50% of what you just built first". They don't mean to be rediculous, they just have no concept of what is entailed.
I think that NWC is a first-rate product and I would stack their customer service and satisfaction level against any other organization. Bravo!

Add my accolades and congratulations to NWC.  I've very seldom had any problems with the program and the small ones were addressed and fixed quickly.  Not being a composer, I'm not much concerned with how the score looks printed out, just how it sounds when I play it back and the ease of inputting it.  Both of these things are handled admirably by NWC.  Go guys! You rock!
