Re: I need to make a clapping sound. Reply #1 – 2005-02-12 02:55 pm A file named DRUMREF.NWC comes with your program.Open this file, play it, (sometimes I slow the tempo), select the sound you want, copy the note (including the accidental, if any, and paste it onto an empty staff on your composition. This staff will become your "drum" or "rhythm" staff. Now, select this staff by clicking on it.Paste the note that you just copied from the DRUMREF.NWC file onto the staff. With the staff still selected, click on "Staff | Staff Properties | MIDI". A box will open and at the bottom you will see a place to adjust the midi channel for that staff. Set the staff to Midi Channel 10.You can paste as many iterations of the note as you wish. You can change the duration, add rests, whatever, to get the sound and/or rhythm you wish.Remember, however, that midi channel 10 interprets "indicated pitches" on that specific staff to be percussion sounds rather than actual pitch changes. For example, if you change the pitch in any way, by raising or lowering its position on the staff, or by changing the accidental (if any) then you will change the sound of the percussion instrument rather than making a pitch change. If you have trouble, ask again.-- debo Quote Selected
Re: I need to make a clapping sound. Reply #2 – 2005-02-13 11:30 am If you mean a single hand clap - that's on D# in the middle of the bass clef on channel 10 (percussion channel). If you mean the sound of an audience clapping (applause) then it's a matter of whether your sound device supports sound effects. On the Roland GS MIDI (and also on many of the Creative soundcards) use patch 56 or 57 (Trumpet - 0 or 1 based) on percussion channel 10 for the sound effects set.Applause is at A# top line of bass clef.To build and fade the applause use Expression controllers (MPC's).
