Converting between ABC format and NoteWorthy

Hello,

Does anybody know of any programs that can convert music
files in the ABC format (http://www.gre.ac.uk/~c.walshaw/abc/)
to the NoteWorthy Composer format?

Erik :-)

Convert the ABC file to MIDI, then Import them using NWC.

Thanks for the reply, I am aware of this method, I had just
hoped I could do the conversion directly. Is it possible to
obtain the file format for NWC? Then it would be possible to
write a conversion program.

Erik :-)

Ha - funnily enough I'd just written to the wishlist, then
came browsing through the forum and read the above. I agree
with Erik that it would be good to be able to import into NWC
straight from an ABC file; ABC-MIDI-NWC can end up a little
garbled, particularly where gracenotes and triplets are
concerned.

I also suggested that NWC could offer reverse conversion,
i.e.NWC-ABC - there are many potential uses for such a facility
and no Win95 programs that make a decent job of it.

I live in hope...
Alex

I also would love to see an "ABC - Noteworthy" and "Noteworthy - ABC" conversion programme created.  Worth money to me!  I host the "O'Neill's Music Of Ireland" and "Allan's Irish Fiddler" pages at http://www.sosyourmom.com and it's a daunting task to transcribe several thousand songs into NWC format. Many of these are available already as ABC files but, as one of the previous respondents stated, the conversion can get a bit "hinky" when there are gracenote, triplets and the like.

I recall seeing a message thread, perhaps from 6 months ago, stating that someone had a program for ABC-NWC. I don't know anything about it (I do not use ABC format), but you might check the forum using "search".

The link "http://members.aol.com/abacusm1/" is not matching.  This is crazy. ABC has become a real popular format, and Noteworthy should join the move!
I prefer to write with noteworthy, but several friends and bandmates prefer abc. it would be a real kick to have an automatic converter rather than manual.
