technic piano driver

where can I download a driver for a technic electronic piano?

search Google.com for the manufacturer's name to see if you can download the driver from there.

You also could use Google to search for drivers or driver downloads.  One site you'll get a hit on is http://www.drivers.com/  I don't know that it has what you need, but if not check for similar sites.

What do you mean by  'driver for Technic electronic piano' ?

Do you mean interfacing the piano to the pc (midi) ?

One way is to use midi in/out.

You're soundcard should already provide this.
In NWC, just select  Tools/Options/Record  to set up.

Your answer depends on what you want the Technics piano to do regarding MIDI in general and NoteWorthy in particular.  Post again and let us know which one or more of the following you want to do:

1. Use the Technics to play MIDI files and NoteWorthy compositions, that is, as your MIDI sound module.

2. Record your playing on the Technics into NoteWorthy.

3. Connect the Technics to your computer physically to accomplish 1 or 2 above.

Also post the model number of your Technics and whether it is GM (General MIDI) compliant, and what version of Windows you are using and whether your computer has a USB port.  Then we'll have enough info to help you.

Sorry - I've been away.
What I want is as follows:
Connect the piano to the computer so that I can:
1. Have the piano play a NW composition (saved as midi)
2. Use the piano to 'write' music into NW.
I can do both these with my PSR-54 Yamaha - but a 'driver' was required in the computer (Yamaha CBXA Driver)
That is why I wondered if Technics would also need one. (I have tried Google for a driver without success)
Also I need to know what cable is required for the connection. The piano isn't being delivered till tomorrow and I can't remember which model it was. It cost around £1500 if this would help.
If the actual model is required I will come back after tomorrow. Thanks so far for the replies.

Windows XP and USB port available.
(the Yamaha uses the serial port)

I just looked up the manual for your Technics piano, that is, if the model no. is "SX-PX664".  There doesn't seem to be a "PX664".  That piano is not GM compliant, that is, it does not have the full set of GM sounds, only 17 or so different sounds, so you will not be able to use it to play back NWC or MIDI files.  Try maybe one of Edirol's software synthesizers for a vastly better sound than the PSR-54 can give, that sounds like an old model.  Or for about the same price as a good Edirol softsynth, get a Yamaha PSR-293 keyboard for about $200 US that has a great GM and XG sound set that will play NWC and MIDI files and can be connected to your computer with just a USB cable and the drivers included with the keyboard.  Your Technics SX-PX664 will need a MIDI interface to connect to the computer, since it does not have its own USB port.  The M-Audio USB MIDIsport UNO and the Yamaha UX16 1X1 USB, are USB MIDI interfaces each including their own drivers that cost about $50 US that will enable you to connect the Technics to your computer. You should be able to record into NWC from the Technics once the interface is installed.

Just a small additional "note".  It isn't necessary to save NWC files as MIDI files to play them back as long as your sound source is selected in NoteWorthy under the menu: Tools-Options-MIDI-Available Playback Devices.  Also if you play back directly from NWC you will hear the effect of any MIDI controllers you have inserted in your piece, where NWC strips MIDI controllers out from any pieces saved as MIDI files.

AFAIK, NWC doesn't strip MPC's when you save a file as .MID, but only when you import a .MID file.

Do other programs strip MPCs when importing a .MID file, or is it just NWC?

NWC is the only notator I've used that does this.

NWC generally does not import many of the MIDI instructions that can be inserted into a song using MPCs (including pitch bends and expression). However, MPCs are a proprietary element in NWC. There is no equivalent in a MIDI file. The MIDI file will contain the rendered/played version of the MPC.

So if I use MPCs to make the tempo swing, someone who opens the MIDI file with a different program will still hear it swing, but someone who opens the MIDI file with NWC won't hear any swinging?

In NWC, tempo changes are imported into the conductor track.

What if I use MPCs to bend pitches and stuff.  NWC won't import the bends; will other programs import them?
