how to fix a midi file that is recorded at the wrong tempo

i would like to know how to fix a midi file with wrong tempo, for example the tempo is supposed to be 72 but the tempo was set at 120 when recording, the song was played rubato, and with tempo changes

-You can correct the basic tempo just by opening the file in NWC and replacing the wrong tempo setting with the right one (Insert/Tempo)

-You could experiment with the tempo feature in the multipoint controller - (Insert/Multipoint Controller/Tempo).  Alternatively, just insert as many tempo changes as you want, where you want them.  You can do that several times within a single measure if necessary.

no, you misunderstood me, i was talking about a midi file that was recored in real-time at the wrong tempo, like a quarter note at 72, will become about the length of a half note at 120, and the tempo change is like, when you have ritardando or accelarando, or a fermata

I think you're saying the values of the notes that are imported to NWC are wrong.

I think you have to change them all individually.  That wouldn't be a major problem, just tedious, if the problem was notes are exactly half or double what they should be.  You would just highlight each note, and press the plus or minus sign to change its value.

If the song is long, in NWC2 it might be more efficient to copy as many of the notes as you like to the clipboard, and paste them into a word processor as text.  Then run a series of searches and replaces to double or halve each note, and copy that back to the staff.

It sounds like you are describing an unbounded MIDI performance where the performer did not synch the performance to a fixed, computer tempo. In order to bind the performance to a tempo track, you probably need MIDI sequencing software that supports this feature. The sequencer will probably also require you to manually tap the correct tempo into the performance.

That seems to be a question you ask quite often.
Obviously, we don't always understand your questions. That has happened often enough, goodness knows. Or we simply have no specific knowledge of the things you are experimenting with.

I may have picked you up wrong but from what I see your midifile plays far too fast, I use cakewalk and alter tempo on midi's all the time
