Are NWC2 and the trial download very similar?

Hi,
I am presently examining whether Noteworthy is the best notation program for me personally, and having had the answer to a question I asked in the other forum (Thanks David Palmquist and Gary S), I believe for what I want, I need to use NWC2 as soon as possible.  I just wondered really how similar it is to the one I have now (the downloaded trial) and whether it is fairly easy to switch from one to the other.  Is there anything I can presently do that I won't be able to do on switching to NWC2?

I just need to be sure of making the right decision here.  I am a student, and although I think NWC is VERY reasonably priced, I don't want to pay out for something that won't do the two MAIN things I need to be able to do.  (Namely make the music bigger, so children including those with sight problems find it easier to read) and colour code the notes. (for which I need 7 colours, not 4, hence the need for NWC2).

Thanks in advance for your help

Sue

Both NWC1 and NWC2 allow you to make the music bigger. You set the "staff size" and most other things follow proportionately.

The only thing you can't do in version 2 that you can do in version 1.75 is save in 1.75 format.  It's not downwardly compatible.

Everything you've written in version 1.75 can be loaded into version 2.  If however you were only going to sample version 2 instead of subscribing, you might be better off opening the version 1.75 file in version 2, and then saving it to a new file name so you don't lose the original.

Individual note colouring would be quite painstaking, but there's a copy feature that would allow you to copy the note to a wordprocessor like this:

|Note|Dur:Half|Pos:0|Color:1
|Note|Dur:Half|Pos:1|Color:1

(Position 0 is middle line B; Position 1 is 3rd space C.)

It would be simple enough to do a search and replace, changing all the

Pos:1|Color:1

to

Pos:1|Color:2.

Note sizes are determined from the staff size setting in the File/Page setup/Options menu, just the same as version 1.75.  The difference in size won't show in the edit window, but will show in print preview and when printing.
