Aligning chords with a specific note in the melody

Hi

I'm trying to align my chord in my rhythm staff with a specific note in my melody staff. In other words, I have to move the chord over to the right alittle more on the staff. How do I accomplish this task please?

As long as your notes and rests are the right values, everything should be aligned properly (assuming you mean chords that are written as notes on the staff).

If you're using chord symbols (i.e. Gm7), then you can either place them as lyrics on a new to-be-layered staff in the lyric editor, or enter them singly as text.

If entering them singly as text, I suggest using a layered staff, padded with hidden muted 1/4 or 1/2 notes.  Place the text before the note that is in the right position, highight it and then set its properties (control-E) to align the text at the next note.

I find it more convenient to use the lyric editor.  I can enter all the symbols at once, then line them up:

First create a new staff full of bars of quarter rests.  Add the lyrics to it.  Each chord symbol will be treated as a syllable, and will align with the next note.  All you have to do is to use note properties to make the rests hidden, then where you want the next chord to show, replace the rest with a hidden, muted quarter note.

...then where you want the next chord to show, replace the rest with a hidden, muted quarter note.

No need to put a note in, you could just change the rest's lyric syllable property so that the lyric is displayed above (or beneath or wherever) the rest.
