keyboard input to computer

I have recorded instrumentals on my keyboard but i cant use them because i want to put vocals over it.  So im tryin to record them on my computer with such programs as cakewalk sonar3 but i dont recieve any signal on my computer. i can make send notes towards the piano but not the other way around. how do i do it.  thx
