Repeat on both sides

Hi all,

Just wondering under what circumstances will the repeat sign on both sides of the bar line work? Sometimes the master close and open will stick together after I put them in and other times, they will remain separate. Also it seems like if I edit anything in the bar, they will also separate.

They will stay together if no other items are inserted between the bar lines. The same bar line arrangement has to be done at that measure in all staves that are shown in the system.
