Re: overlapping notes PLZ HELP Reply #1 – 2004-01-19 05:30 pm Before your question can be answered, it needs to be clarified. Are you trying to do this: You have a 3-note chord. Two of the notes are held for the duration of a dotted half note. But the third note of the chord is not a dotted half note, it is three quarter notes. The total duration of all put together is the same as a dotted half note. That can be done, depending on exactly what you have. First, try this: Enter the three quarter notes. If desired, use slurs. Then, at the location of the first quarter note (cursor is positioned just behind it), set NWC to enter a dotted half note at the correct pitch, then use CTRL+enter to make a chord. Also do this for the other dotted half note. You might have to force note stems one way or the other. If that doesn't work, you can use "staff layering" to put some notes on one staff, and other (simultaneous) notes on a merged staff. Staff layering is described elsewhere. But it that's not the probel, could you explain some more? Quote Selected
Re: overlapping notes PLZ HELP Reply #2 – 2004-01-20 12:54 am Thank you very much. I didn't think of adding another staff lol... I still couldn't get it to work on the first staff, so I'm going to have to go with the extra one. Here's a little more insight on my problem... I have 2 dotted half notes, one on A and the other on F (both stems up). and then I have a quarter note that is just before (played as a chord) the dotted half notes with its stem down. so I hold the dotted quarter notes out while playing different notes after the quarter note. by the way, that quarter note is on D. Try it out if you want. NoteWorthy refuses to play it as a chord (I'm sure there's probably a way, but I sure can't find it).So with that said... thanks a lot! I appreciate it. Quote Selected
