Concert bass drum MIDI sound 21 years ago The MIDI library that comes with NWCis too limited in percussion sounds.I need to get a concert bass drum soundinto my compositions and arrangements.I also need a "heavier" crash cymbal soundand a snare drum sound with more "body".I have tried the tympani sound as a subfor bass drum, but the sustain is toolong. The "acoustic bass drum" sound inthe midi files is just a short "splat".Can anyone give me any direction?I will appreciate it.Many thanks,Ed Swanzey Quote Selected
Re: Concert bass drum MIDI sound Reply #1 – 21 years ago I can't give you any help, but I have the same problems. I want to have a better sounding bass drum in the music, and the bass drum that is supported through NWC is too short, and sounds more like a bass drum on a trap set. Are there any better sounding bass drums supported through NWC?Daniel Carrasco Quote Selected
Re: Concert bass drum MIDI sound Reply #2 – 21 years ago I use a Taiko drum (not on channel 10 - regular instrument selection, like piano or violin), very low pitch (below the bass staff) in conjunction with the channel 10 bass drum. Not perfect, but it works. Quote Selected
Re: Concert bass drum MIDI sound Reply #3 – 21 years ago In most cases, when a new note is entered for a particular midi instrument, it stops whatever sound was playing from that same instrument.Instruments that normally prolong a sound, even when struck again, may sound un-natural. There's nothing that NWC can do about that, if your sound card isn't equipped for overlapping sound (do any exist?). Quote Selected
Re: Concert bass drum MIDI sound Reply #4 – 21 years ago see https://forum.noteworthycomposer.com/?topic=3558.msg21720#msg21720 - If your sound supports it, there are a few different drum sets you can choose from. Note that the sound of the drum has nothing to do with NoteWorthy Composer. Your sound card is the "band" and NoteWorthy just hands the "band" the sheet music. Quote Selected
