Un-Install

I downloaded a trial, and now wish to uninstall.

Unfortunately, it appears that no install.log was created, and therefore the uninstall program won't run.

Where are the manual un-install instructions?

The evaluation includes an uninstall capability, which requires the install.log file which is created during the installation of the evaluation. If you deleted this file, you might try reinstalling the evaluation and then running the uninstall.

Let me just add that this has happened to me with other software.  It seems that any program that is installed with the WISE installer needs its install.log file to uninstall.  Unfortunately, there are programs on the Internet, one of which I ran across, that label all *.log files as junk files that can be deleted.  One click and you've broken the uninstall programs for all the WISE-based installers on your computer.  As NoteWorthy Online pointed out, the only way to delete the program now is to reinstall THE SAME VERSION.  In my situation, the installer is no longer available, so I'm stuck!

Thanks

It worked after a fashion.

It appears to have removed the bulk of Registry entries, but left many of the files, including the main exe file!!!

Thanks anyway

If some files remain, it's probably that NWC was running at that time (for the EXE file at least).
I think you can safely remove the folder if you already did the uninstall process described above.
Just a question though, because of my curiosity: why do you want to uninstall it??

Shhh!  don't shout, it hurts my eyes.

Can you give a bit more information please?  What operating system are you using, and which programs did not uninstall?

If your programs aren't NWC, this may not be the best place to ask such a question, but give it a try, and maybe someone can help or at least point you in the right direction.

What operating system are you using?  Some systems, like WindowsXP, may require you to have administrator privileges to install or uninstall programs.

Other than that, what steps have you taken?  In Windows, Start menu, Control panel (you may have to select Settings first), go to Display, Screensavers, then select None instead of the one that's highlighted.

Failing all else, you might be able to locate the file using a search and delete it or change the extension so it isn't recognized as a program.

In my never-ending search for good freeware, I have had to uninstall several hundred apps.

I have found that if a program fails to uninstall (usually due to changes you have made after you installed it, or your failure to accept the defaults that they know you will really want), the best thing to do is reinstall the program (accepting all the defaults), then uninstall it.  This usually cleans up the registry.

Software designers usually spend a lot more time insuring that their program will install over an existing version than they spend on removal.
