MIDI Sound

I have Yamaha Softsynth for my MIDI Playback. It's great and everything, but does anyone know about any other similar programs that improve the way MIDIs sound? I already know far too much about Wingroove. Personally, I like Yamaha better. Anyway, any suggestions?

The best free stuff I know of is Timidity with the "Big Merlin" soundfont set. You can find them via Internet search. I am sure that others will have their opinion. The best non-free stuff I know of, not requiring a special sound card, is commercial software.

Virtual Sound Canvas by Roland is another soft synth you could try.
