Netscape 7.1 now plays Windows Media format via ActiveX

...the title says it all. And, it's scriptable with Javascript.

Netscape 7.1 (not 7.02) uses the actual ActiveX control, not a fake. But according to the Netscape DevEdge site, other ActiveX controls, if they are usable at all in Netscape, continue to be implemented via a Java bridge that was introduced in (I believe) 7.01, meaning that the functionality may not be exact.

Thank you for tracking the whereabouts of the Lizard ;-)  It seems that the Mozilla team has decided "If you can't beat them, join them." They have added, all sorts of IE features like smooth scroll, image resizing, HTML copy.  And, best of all, they are more intuitive.  For the image resize, you don't have to wait for that stupid picture icon to come up, you just click anywhere.
