Stretching a bar?

I need to stretch a bar on the printed page, stretching the space occupied by a beamed arpeggio, so that there is more room for text and other marks (long slur, which I'll have to add by hand) overlapping the beamed notes.

I know about extending the last system and about forcing system breaks, but neither method solves the problem because this is the next-to-last measure. Any other tricks?

Put in a text expression, and in the text entry box use the non-breaking space character (ALT+0160). For maximum effect, set the Preserve Width property to on. The only drawback here is that the expression will be invisible once entered! You can, however, use the "find" facility to relocate it.

Just put in text but enter spaces with the space bar and tick 'preserve width. Also can put in say rests and make them invisible. You might have to treat all staves the same.

Could select the bar and change "extra accidental spacing" in "notation properties" to 1 or 2. This is how I've spread out music in the past. I have used it to spread out the whole score to make it look better on the page.

Bad idea.  Music won't sound right.
"extra accidental spacing"
Bad idea, if any of the notes have accidentals on them.

I pad between notes, and notes and barlines, with the text expression (x shortcut), enter however many spaces required as the text expression, and check Preserve Width.  This is the easist way to do it.  There are no playing peculiarities.
