Suggestion for multiple rests

Many people (including me) find having to enter multiple
bars with rests inconvenient. I also find it annoying that
a small change can throw off the alignment of lyrics to notes
for the entire score.

A solution for these problems is to provide the ability to
tie a point in the lyrics to a specific note. So, for example,
if the lyrics start 20 bars after the rest of the music, you
would tie the start of the lyrics to the start of bar 21.

A new notation option, similar to text, would let the user
place a non-printing symbol above a note. In the lyric
editor the same symbol would be placed before the the lyric
to be tied. For example, the lyric line might look like

<1> The lyr-ic line...

It would be even better if the symbol was entered by selecting
the symbols entered in the score from a drop list. But this
would be a departure from using a simple edit control for
the lyric editor, with cut & paste problems, etc.

Why not allow some way of specifying the bar number at which
lyrics should start. Maybe via a skip symbol to indicate the
number of bars to skip. This could be entered in the lyrics
in much the same way as the underscore eg 56*_ to indicate
skipping 56 beats before starting the lyrics.

Good idea, and simple to implement. It does not conflict with anchored lyrics, which would be even nicer, but a lot more difficult to implement.
