drum sounds

According to the help file on drum sounds: "Drum sounds are
typically assigned to a dedicated channel on the sound card,
usually channel 10 or channel 16 (in some devices, drum kits
are assigned to an instrument patch, rather than to a
dedicated channel). In General MIDI, different note pitches
equate to different percussive sounds."

Can someone explain to me, step by step, how to use this
feature?
Thank so much...

etc , (Keep goin' till your staff has a bunch of different notes on it)
play (If you get whistles thuds bangs PERCUSSION then your setup dedicates channel 10 to percussion)
(if not: repeat above except {channel}:16 no need to enter notes if play gives percussion then your setup dedicates 16 to percussion
if neither 10 nor 16 percusses then use the instrument patch list.

Let us know if it works or not. What card are you using?

The Rhythm templates shown when you select File New may also be helpful, since they provide drum samples on midi channel 10.

I've created a a Noteworthy file that contains all of the drum sounds, labelled as to what they are. I keep it open along with the actual song I'm working on, and use it to both see what note I need to use for a particular sound as well as try out percussion sounds to see what fits best. I created it using the Noteworthy help file section on percussion, but I'd be willing to send it to anyone who'd like a copy. Note to Noteworthy support: I think this would be a helpful file to ship with future Noteworthy releases!
